Difference between 18X8 and 18X7.5?

I've been thinking about changing rims. I currently have 18x8 and like the way they fit. However, the new rims that I am looking at only come in 18x7.5. I know, .5 inches is small, but how small look wise? Would some happen to have pics of an 18x7.5 and a 18x8?

Sorry if this sounds kinda picky, but ya know...

Thanks!

Yup, you won't be able to tell just looking at them. Driving, there may be a difference, but I'm going to say that most people won't feel the diff between 7.5" and 8" with the same width tire.

you won't feel or see the difference, but it could limit what tires are "in spec" for the rim. You should see what tires you want, or which size has more tires you like available to it, then decide which wheel to get.

the widest i think you can fit on 7.5 is a 235, so if you want more then you need wider rim

(someone correct me if i am wrong)

Are you asking if we think 7.5" wide will look too thin? If so, then IMO yes. I have 18x8.5's w/245/40's and they fill in pretty nicely. I would never go thinner then 8" on width, it gives it more of an aggressive stance, and you have a lot more options tire wise. I would put either a 235 or a 245 on it.

This is about how wide mine look

I have a hard time trying to imagine that there is any sort of a visual difference made by having wheels that are only half an inch wider. I'm sure that wider wheels help in terms of handling, but since my subzeros only came in 18 x 7.5" I had to settle for it, no regrets though.

Would you happen to have a pic? From the pic that Craig Mack posted above (his is 18X8.5) that is a noticable difference from a 8 inch rim. Using that logic, one would assume that going .5 inches down would look thinner. Sorry if I sound picky, but the last think I want to do is drop two grand on rims and not be 100% happy! Anyway, do you or does anybody have a pic of 18X7.5?

Think about it this way bro...2k+ SE Maximas come stock with 17x7 wheels, but the tire is really fat. Even then, they look incredibly thin. Your considering an 18x7.5. Ya, that's .5" wider, but the tire will be significantly thinner, so it will look about the same as a stock rim, which is waaay too thin IMO. My 18x8.5's with 245/40/18's look just a LITTLE bit wider then my 17x8's with 235/45/17's. That's why the 16x8 wheels that come stock on Z28's look more like 9" wide. The tire sidewall is really wide.
