The good news is once war begins oil prices will stabilize and gas will go back down.

And no, I don't expect many here to understand that.

I understand the uncertainty of supply is increasing price.

Back in the 1991 Gulf War when gas prices were at their highest levels since the fuel crisis, I remember this hilarious news report that was calling out the oil companies on their claims of "short supply" when they showed a video of all the oil tankers that were stacked up half way across the Atlantic ocean!

It's not a huge problem from me...the cars I drive average 30 MPG. I also drive a 89 110HP Mazda 626. I just laugh a little at my neighborhood, everyone has an exotic sportscar, a luxury gas-guzzler, or an SUV. If gas prices hiked to $4, I'd still be ok. I just wish Orange County had a public transportation system like NYC, SF, Boston, Chicago, or DC...if so, I'd only have a car for racing purposes. I think if you compare the relative price for gasoline around the world, maybe then would we realize how lucky yet whiny we all are. We just hate to pay for things that we use to pay less for.

Come on warmer weather...I need my bike to come out. Then I really dont care (well, as much) about the fluctuating gas prices.

Cause I can go back to minimum and my bike LOVES the cheapo stuff. It runs rough on the premimum. Plus its easier to get through traffic on a bike

All this fear has probably built in the premium, so once we go to war everyone will assume we'll win so the price should creep back down.

$1.99_9=$2

There is price gouging in effect, investigations are underway.

I hope you are serious and not just playing with our minds. I mean really, for petroleum companies to post record profits and then claim additional cost problems and no revenue generated...there is a disconnect there somewhere.

it's a good thing that i'm in school now and only need to fill up every other week or so...otherwise i'd be mad having to pay $30+ everytime i fill up.

for those of you who have to, i'm sorry.

I bought premium for 1.81_9 at a texaco on the 25th. I needed 12 gallons, so it was great to get a deal; it's been around 1.91 in Northern VA for the last couple of weeks.

I'm just glad I'm not in England anymore! Gas won't be expensive to me until it gets over $4 a gallon.

Right now in England the average is $5.38 a gallon.

When I used to drive my TVR during the summer I'd spend about $90 to fill the tank.

Prices are high in Boca because there's a lot of rich people/areas. When I lived in Boca (and when I'm there now) I just drive across the county line to Deerfield Beach and get like 10c per gallon off.

Just checked your profile, another victim of the IBM evacuation? Half the people I knew moved when IBM moved out of Boca...

At one time IBM employed 10,000 people in Boca Raton. The company made a fortune on real estate investments in FL. I didn't leave by choice, we really like it down there. We really like Charlotte, you get all the seasons but they are milder than Canton, Ohio were I am originallfy from. Life goes on.
