Headlight (95-99) Idea's and Taillight Idea's (95-96) what do you guys think?

It's pretty easy to see that the headlights on the 4th Gen. Maximas are pretty plain. How about making some kind of eyelids that wrap around the entire headlight and give it a newer 240sx/skyline look to it?

My MS paint skillz look a lot worse when the picture is bigger

And now for the taillights for us 95-96ers. I dont really like how they are fatter and more bubbly then the 97-99's. What if we could put a trim around it to make it look thinner and sharper?

What do you guys think? They could make them out of polyurethane or something and stick on with high strength adhesives. I personally would love the idea of seeing these get made to give the 95-99 | 95-96 Maxima a much more aggressive look.

i'm not too fond of the chinese eyes look, but 1hotmax posted a pic a few days ago where he used some sort of black rubber/vinyl strips and placed it around the headlights, looked pretty good

I saw those pics. I wasn't fond of the chinese eye'd look at first, but if it's done right it would look aggressive.

That's easy!!! Go buy some clear headlight covers and paint what ever pattern floats your boat from the inside making sure to color match it to your car. I did this before with my 94 Honda Accord, but i just did the eyelid look.

Yea, I know they are out there. Last time I checked, Autobarn was out of clear headlight covers. I just wanted to get a specially made set made out of material for the Maxima. As for the taillights, Gregory?

Pics? Seems like that would be too much of a custom/expensive job.

Looks like an angry baby.

Black adhesive outlines for the tails...now that's something i'd buy. Would make us 95-96's a little sexier.

I dunno, I kinda like the way the E-class mercedes has that caucasian eyes look in the headlights.

You couldn't find another adjective? moron.

You don't do what anymore? Are you talking about your photoshopping? I was just saying that i'm sure you can invision what our tails would look like with some "outliners".

That tailight idea looks great! Makes a 95-96 maxima rear end actually look good

One thing I would suggest, too, is that you make the reverse and signal light thinner, as you've already done, but keep the brake lights big.

Kinda like taillight "eyelids" ? I donno, I think black all the way around would look more symmetrical, don't you? I mean, having the upper lights thinner might look weird.

Might as well design a whole new tail light housing. I think it would sell like crazy to the 95-96 owners. I would like a smoke outline on the tailights rather than black....and, maybe, a cleaner red/clear housing such as current cars today? whoever can create these will get a crazy amount of business from us.

I redid the pic. I made the top a little thinner then the bottom, but trimmed everything up. Tell me what you think boys.

Vs.

Kinda hard to tell with MS paint, but you get an idea at least.

Well bro, that sounds really good and all, but that's alot of $$$ your talking about. And what about all of us who already have clear/red's? Creating polyurethane or whatever outlines that secure tightly and what not that could be painted to look stock would be just as good at a fraction of the price. They could come primed.

I'm included in that statement "and what about all of us who already have clear/red's?" Just tossing out ideas, that's all.

What's so hard about the tails? Simply paint them. If you F-up, take fingernail polish remover and remove the paint. It won't cloud up the plastic like thinner will. I've had all kinds of different setups with my taillights. Instead of using translucent paint like myself, just use regular spray paint.

*obviously take off the taillights when you paint them

it's meant to convey irony =P

I was going to write a really defensive and angry response, but there's no need. I understand what you mean. My name is a bit of tongue in cheek humor. I guess being called a *****, slope, slant, squinty, "those ORIENTALS", your whole life kinda gets to you, and you gotta make some fun out of it.

My original point was that he could have picked ANY other way to describe them without comparing them to a wildly exaggerated racial feature =P. Does it not basically amount to "all chinese people have slanted squinty eyes?"
I'm sorry if I don't find that flattering. I certainly don't look like that. It's true that some do, so? Is it any different than freckles? Do we need to assign a racial label to it? Do we call freckles, "Irish Spots?"

I don't like being the one to raise hell, but I find in general, most asians just lie down and take this crap. It seems to be a cultural thing. Try it on a black guy, before you know it every civil rights group in the country will be on your case.

In this country if you don't speak up, you get walked on. That's just how it is. Honestly, CALL me a "*****" I don't care as long as it's in good humor. But too often it's not.

Bad habits tend to become a social norm if not spoken out about. That is what my name is conveying. It's become politically correct for us not to point out ignorance.

You can think i'm flying off the handle if you like. I don't care, I just want people to be aware that I do not consider comments like that to be cool.

For the 95-96 has anyone tried to make it look like the jetta tails. That would be reding out the turn signals, and tinting the reverse lights, just like the jetta's. I have seen the entire tails red (thought it was a little too much red) but did not see any like I described, and I can't search.

Nice supercharger by the way Craig.

Clutch as alway's Dave, do you still have the hacked air box? I went with a JWT popcharger that is fed from the large pipe running under my car, I don't notice a big differnce other than the sound. Do you have a write up of the tails?

Thanks for the reply.

The tails are simple. Buy a can of "hobby" translucent red and smoke paint. Pull out the tails, tape off the style you want, and paint the tails in multiple light coats. That's it. Use fingernail polish remover if you don't like it or mess up. I use to have both the turnsigal and reverse light smoked and that looked pretty good too. Nearly all the stock light still shines thru also.

As for the stock hacked airbox, I love it and it looks stock which I like. Pretty much the lower airbox is just a wide open box. It's still fed cool air from the stock intake snorkel. All the resonators are removed plus I have a K&N filter panel (may go with a Amsoil foam filter panel). I've switched between this setup and my HKS hybrid setup about 10 times now I've tested it at the track and there's no measureable difference in performance (96+mph traps). The sound is sweet too. It seems to sound more refined and aggressive.
