KYB warranty .... right ...

I cannot say KYB has done a good job honoring their warranty. I put a set of struts on my car last April, and in early December I had to replace the front left because it was totally blown out. This is with Progressive springs, which I like, and which are not lowered excessively.
KYB has said the warranty is handled by the wholesale distributor, not through them. It took me 100 days and a dozen phone calls to get a credit on this strut, which finally came in (to the shop that did the work) today. Additionally, they did not cover the entire replacement cost. I was credited $110 on a replacement of $150, which is less than 75%. I am NOT impressed with this at all!

hmmm thats the reason why I tell the guys not to jump on the bias bandwagon get this cause everyone is getting it. I prefer Konis, the guy at Koni in the warranty dept is very polite guy and they come with lifetime warranty.

I liked my Konis too, but since they were modified for the Cattman coilovers I am selling right now, they wouldn't work with a conventional setup. Everyone loves the KYB's, and I like them too. It's just this "limited lifetime warranty" seems pretty tight right now.

Oh, I blew a couple of front left struts with the coilovers too! Is it because that corner is heavy (the battery) or maybe just all those right-hand freeway onramps with bumps and dips that wears out that strut faster?

What did you have your front struts set at? Did KYB ask you what kind of springs you have? I suppose they could have been real technical with you and not give you any money since the front Progress springs have a 1.7" drop. Their warranty says they cover drops to 1.5".

Re: Re: KYB warranty .... right ...

I may have figured something out here. I got the original KYB's from Cattman. To replace it I would have spent $$$ for shipping and then returning the bad one, plus it was taking too long to get ahold of him, so I went through a local shop since KYB said it was all handled at the distributor level anyway. The shop hit me up for retail but then I probably got refunded according to the original invoice from Cattman, which was cheaper (except then the shipping brought it about even). I guess then I got refunded but paid the shipping cost of mail order anyway, in the form of the unreimbursed difference. Live and learn ...
