Anyone have information about the jap motor for the max. I know that there is a turbo version but does the no-turbo offer a lot more power than the american motor? My reason for asking is I can't decide between getting a new motor from a 95-96 and supercharging it or getting the Jap motor and supercharging it. Than the thought came about getting the turbo motor and supercharging that but I'm kinda lost as to what to do. That and I'm looking for a new look for next show season, I'm doing skyline tail lights, maybe the front end if I can get it, and I was thinking about maybe changing the look to be a touring style? Any input? How can I post pics? I'm new to the forum.
Thanks,
Jeremy

Sorry you feel that way this has been my e-mail address since 1996 when I bought my maxima, so I guess you'll have to live with it, nice to see how friendly every one is to new memebers on the forum, maybe that's why I haven't been on it!

How to post a pic....

{img}photopointblahblahblah{/img} replace {} with[] around !mg get it??

The reason I wrote it with the {{{{ is because if you type it with [[[[[ you will get a box in the post with a X like Stillnmax has in his last post {dumb A$$ hehe JK}
Anyways go to your profile {top right of the page} and type what I wrote above with [[[ instead of{{{{{'s in your sig,you will need to have your pics on a site like photopoint etc. You have to right down the URL of your pic in between the {img}PathofURL{/img} but make sure to use the [[[[ haha.If you don't get it feel free to ask more ???.

Thanks,
as of yet I don't have a site with pics, only on the hard drive so I guess I won't be posting any pics until I create a site, which will be in awhile. I may change the look of the car to a touring style look between no and than, still not sure though

Hey Maxstilln...

Instead of getting a whole JDM-spec turbo motor, why don't you just find out what parts you need from it to turbocharge a USDM motor? It might be cheaper to do that. You might just need the VQ30DETT turbo manifold and turbos. Maybe some lower compression pistons too, depending on how much boost you want to run.

That's an idea, the only reason to get the Jap motor was for extra power and point with the judges at shows. I really would rather have a supercharged motor than a turbo due to the lag, and I drive the car everyday. If I know that the Jap non-turbo offered a significantly more power than the US than I would get it and supercharge it, but no one seems to know a lot about it. The other probelm with Jap motors is getting everything to work right. As for the compression I thought about lowering it anyway so I could run more boost from the supercharger. I just thought that having a turbo and a supercharger would be great.

Do you mean turbo and SC on the same motor? If so, you will have a lot more issuse than just compression and getting thigns to work right. I mean i don't even know where to begin on this...

Also, assuming a Japanese spec motor makes more power NA. more than likely the C.R. is going to be higher than the us counterpart... by gettig that motor, lowering compression and then force feed it, it kinda defeats the purpose of a high compresssion NA motor from the land of the rising sun. You might as well go to the yard and find a VQ in good running condition for less than $1k.
