Questions about clear hood protection
Questions about clear hood protection
I have many paint chips on my hood (like many of us) and was wondering what everyone does to help the problem.
I am going to get the current chips fixed for free at the dealer, and want to protect the hood after that is done
I read somewhere that there are clear bras available, which one is the best and where can I but it? Or are there any other things that can be done?
Thanks is advance!

Typically the bumper, front of the hood, and mirror pieces are 8ml thick and the headlight piece is 40 ml thick.
Mine was put on by UltraShield (I think it's the XPEL kit). It is only as good as the installer though. Get the best you can find in your area. Mine cost around $420 and they had to redo a couple of pieces. I was prtty **** about it. Get one that has a good non-discolor and installation warranty. The only paint chips I have are where the 3M is not. This stuff is really strong and would need a huge rock to penetrate (you'd have a ding anyway). I put mine on within 3 weeks after I purchased the car. Have not regretted it.

Almost all of the "clear bra" options out there use the 3M material. I think there is a UK outfit that uses something else. Different companies have different patterns that cover varying areas.
