Oil Filter question

Oil Filter question
Hi all,
I've noticed a lot of discussion about oil filters comparing, Mobil/Amsoil/OEM/Fram(with or without a gun to the temples
) etc.
I've never seen anything on the K&N filters(or at least as long as I've been a member - just over a month now).
How do K&N's compare to other filters? Are they worth the price?
Canadian Tire currently has all K&N products on sale for 20% off. Thought I'd buy a few oil filters if it's worth it. Or should I just stick with OEM?
Bill99GXE, thanks for all the work you've done on the Oil Analysis spreadsheet. It's been a good read. Just might contribute to it myself. Once I find out where I can get oil analysis done in Canada.
Cheers,
Al

Al,
The K&N is a decent filter. Expensive, well built, & known for their oil flow in racing applications. The big question about them is their filtering efficiency, since K&N isn't very clear about the micron level of the 90% efficiency claim. Plus this filter has a nitrile anti-drain back valve, not a silicone one as Nissan oem filters. As far as a Canadian location for oil analysis, email this guy. patgat@rogers.com
He is in Canada, knows several locations and has some experience with K&N filters. He is a moderator at Bobs oil site. Very knowledgeable.
Are they worth it? Boy, that's a tough one to answer for someone else. I've used them & Mobil 1 filters in the past. Was satisfied, but frankly have decided to go back to Nissan oem filters cause I value the silicone ADB valve now more than filtering efficiency and got tired of spending big $$$ for a filter. It all comes down to what is important in a filter to you and the amount of $$$ you want to spend.
