hey... are the probe and mazda mx-6 the same ? I think so...

my friend from work has one (mazda mx-6).. he challenged me between job sites... I kicked his ***.. but roads were slick, almost lost it.

all i have is pop charger... how do we really compare ?

maybe apples and oranges, it seemed to me he should have passed me being lighter and a sport car ?

I have no clue really, just curious, looking for info, not flames.

If you are 5-speed it was over before it began. The V6 MX-6 is a pretty decent runner. 1/4 miles in the 15s. I dono how well they handle. The dude in the MX-6 could just be a bad driver.. But I would think even an auto max could take a MX-6.. Was the MX-6 manual or auto?

if you are talking about older ones, some are turbo and don't say it on the back. i raced a '88 with out thinking and barely won. those suckers can run.

my bro in law has a 95? probe gt...

he has an intake in his probe, and i have an intake in my max. i can take him from a light and rolling in my 2k auto, so it probably wasnt a fluke when you beat your co-worker, you just have the faster car

probe, mx6, 626

all have the same 2.5l ~165 hp engines. Mazda and Ford built these sister cars early on. Let me be more precise, the ford gt has the 2.5 V6, otherwise the lower models have a 4 cyclinder--
i have raced a stock '95 626 in my stock max--and this is from a stop at a light...the max (auto) can pretty much take out the 626 auto.
here's a comment too...Nissan is noted for refined engines, especially the 3.0 vq in the Max...the Mazda--and ford--both are not noted for superior engine design.

My dads friend had an older turbo mx6

He said they discontinued them cause the turbo would kick in at a pretty low rpm and apparently people would be driving in traffic, accelerate a bit..turbo kick in suddenly and rear end car in front of them. Don't know if it's true or not.

The Probe and MX-6 are the same. The 4 cylinder is weak, and so is the V-6 only 160hp. This cars are a poor excuse of a "sports coupe", a wannabe 240sx. Atleast the 240 is a real rwd car.
Old or new, a Maxima will beat it with a auto or 5 speed tranny.
