y-pipe flex section...

y-pipe flex section...

ok...this mite be common knowledge but i don't knoe the answer...wat purpose does the flex section serve??? expansion??? can u actually do away w/ the flex section?? yes i am dumb and stoop...not a mechanic in any way shape or form...

No expert either but don't see anyone else stepping up to answer this one. I believe its purpose it to alieviate the stress that would be caused by the movement of the enine and the pipe it self, the enigne cn move one way while the pipe that hangs from the underside of the car. If there were no flex section this would create a large amount of stress on the hardware connecting it to the engine.
