Hello

Just bought my 1997 Maxima SE 5 speed out of its lease. After 5 years of service and 46,000 miles of absolutly trouble free driving, I just couldn't part with it. Besides where else could I get a car this great for $10,000.

So... Now the fun begins.

Let me start by saying that "MAX" is my wifes car and all updates have to meet with her approval.

I do what ever I want to My 2003 Tiburon GT V6 USPIII and have upgraded many things on it.

I have to keep Max "comfortable for the Mrs" if you get my drift.

Some of you may think I'm "whipped" but after 29 years with my "best friend" I've got absolutly no complaints.

Upgrades to lighting, tires, Audio are all within the comfort zone so I'll start there. I'll be "picking your brains" for the best stuff.

Thanks,
Zonamax

Just tell her it's the turn signal. That will guarantee it won't be used.

Or tell her it's the switch to pop open the fuel door.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Hello

just the basics you can do to the car which will be beneficial to the driving experience of the car is add...

FTSB = front strut tower bar. abou 25.00 from ebay shipped. Very easy to install. Helps the handling (reduces body flex / lean.)

Use 91 octane gas or better (but you probably already knew that.)

If you have some extra cash, go for a rear strut bar, pricing is a couple hundred as far as what I have seen. www.custommaxima.com

Clean your throttly body (jamsan showed me how the other day, works wonders if you havent already done it, but make sure you get throttle body cleaner, not carb cleaner)

I am assuming your spark plugs are going to need to be replaced, go for plats if you want the full 60,000 use, or the coppers for 30,000 use. they both work great with the car. (at least on my 99 se.)

LOTS OF STICKERS!! (just kidding )

but, basic maintennance. I mean if you want some performance mods...

Air Intake kit (cold air kit or pop charger) it will change the sound around 3000 rpm though. deep sound, not like a fart muffler though. lol like a little growl, sounds good.

but, keep reading the boards. always new info popping up all the time

As far as Audio goes, JL audio makes a 10" sub that fits in the little pocket on the drivers side of the trunk. It's in a carpeted enclosure that matches the trunk and is virtually invisible. It'll definately wake up the audio system in the car. As for lighting, you can make the do it yourself red/clear taillights, and get the clear front bumper lenses from Custommaxima.com. Just little subtle ways of customizing the max to fit your personality.

first mod - clear corners! make sure they are the "diamond cut" type, they are easily obtained from ebay, just make sure they are totally transparent, not the translucent ones. Raybrig makes great wedge bulbs, you need 194 and 1157's. you can goto www.procarparts.com and grab some reverse indiglo guages. www.frankencar.com has great intakes

Are you kidding? I think he meant his wife not the max

Anyway get intake and y-pipe, they are pretty safe and cheap to put on and won't **** off your wife. Also the jl audio stealthbox is awesome and is not too much bass and not too little. its expensive though at about $400-$500 plus the cost of wires, amp, and intallation if you can't do it yourself. so good luck and happy moddin
