rust on brake disc

last summer i put on new brembo rotors, and after the shop put it on they have been rusting and the rust drips on my wheels when it rains. So on the weekend i painted one part of the rotor and try to prevent it. But it did not work. What can i spray on the rotors that would prevent it from rusting. I have to spray the wholerotor where the pad is..so i can use anything that will be oily cause it will not break right. Please help me figure this out cause it is bugging me. THANKS

There's nothing you can do. The rotors are cast iron and will always rust.

I've seen claims that some rotors are cadmium or something else 'plated' and that prevents rust from forming. Don't know if I believe that. In any case, just drive the car for a few minutes -- when you brake the pads will scour the rust off.

I've painted my rotors before. I cleaned all of the rust and scale off of the areas that are not in contact with the pads. DO NOT SPRAY ANYTHING ON THE FRICTION SURFACES. I masked those surfaces off, then sprayed the rest with black header paint. It has held up for a couple of years now and looks a thousand percent better than before.

The only thing you can do to have rust free friction surfaces is buy stainless steel rotors and I don't know if anyone makes them for Maximas.
