As part of my credit card company disputing the charges, I had to return the pulley to RVM with a requested return receipt. I came home yesterday to see it sitting on my porch. The idiots at RVM refused delivery.

That sounds about right for what RVM would do. I have given up on them. They are hopeless.

Agreed. Rack it up to a lesson learned. And for those who have not already done so, please make certain you take the time to give RVM a negative Trader Rating. You can do that here:

http://forums.maxima.org/member.php?...o&userid=12786

Hopefully, others will be able to avoid having to throw their money away.

I haven't had a problem with my pulley either nor has it developed an oil leak yet. But that doesn't eliminate the fact that the pulley should have contained a sleeve. By RVM's own admission, they designed their pulley around the UR UDP. And UR stated that they NEVER manufactured an unsleeved pulley for the Nissan Maxima.

looks like my oil leak might have started. I changed my oil yesterday, and there is some residue around underneath the pulley. It could be from something else, but I don't think so.

Is there any way to sleeve the pulley so that it doesn't rub and wear causing the leak?

Also, I drive an Accord and originally got the RVM pulley news off of here from a friend. Do any of you have an idea if I could swap my RVM pulley at Stillen or is Stillen a Maxima only company?

Thanks all!

Actually, I just stumbled on this. If anybody is interested, UR has a sale right now where they'll give you 35% off of any pulley when you trade in a competitors pulley. That comes out to be about the amount paid for the RVM pulley (at least for me). Even if I can't do the swap with Stillen, I may take up UR on their sale...

Mine was ordered quite a while ago, but has not been installed yet. It did come with a copper sleeve. Has anyone with a sleeved RVM had any oil issues?(

Horrible Horrible Story

Ok...I purchased my RVM UnderDrive pulley back in March of this year (2003). I noticed that my gas pedal felt a bit looser like I had changed the pulley, but sometimes it would feel harder to press on. Well around early November I noticed it was a little hard to turn my stearing wheel just a slight difference. Hmmm...Well Later on as I go to pick up my younger brother from church I noticed my oil light flickering on and off and sometimes barely being visible. Well I take it wal-mart thinking they messed up putting on the oil filter....but to my utter disgust they take me under the car to show me that there was a leak, new filter and all. So...My father takes it to a shop, right. Turns out the RVM pulley is made with screws and plates, right. One of the screws came out letting the plate hangout a bit. The plate tore into my timing chain cover, messed up a sensor and my car was on its RAG! Well $1065.00 later I am severly sorry I bought such a cheap product. Oh well I even e-mailed them but to no avail....Oh well...If anyone else has had such a horrifing story I am deeply sympathetic...

Mine started to do the same thing (screws backing out into block and gouging), luckily I caught it while it was only doing cosmetic damage.

RVM =

It might just be me then, but if a part could cause damage to my car, there is no way I would ever install it. But if you absolutly had a thing for the pulley it seams like the cause of the problems is the little screw backing out, so I would locktite the h3ll out of it before the install. Personally, have the UR pulley and havent had a problem, got it here used for ~$100 with belts.

It started small, and then got pretty bad. Pretty soon I had oil slung all over the bottom of my car. I would fill it up and then 3-4 days later there would be none on the dipstick.

i didnt change my seal but i did have my my friend who works at a nissan place put it in and ive had good luck....he said it looked good and hes changed hundreds of maxima pulleys. I would like to see how many people still have it on with no problems. We are the only 2 i know of right now. Who knows maybe it was just an installation issue. Only time will tell

I'm at about 12k with no problems, so far so good. I figure I'll just leave it on till it leaks. I have a very slightly used DMS unit on the shelf as a backup. I'll need a new seal anyway might as well just wait it out.
