your front brakes need to be inspected for change or it could be lots of brake dust.

seized caliper maybe... the calipers aren't fully disengaging from the disc, thus the "squeal" while you are moving.

Most likely the brake wear sensor on your front pads are telling you they need changed. When braking, they are under a "load" and therefore don't squeal. They only get worse until you get a horrible grating noise of the pad backing plate grinding in to your rotors. This gets more expensive. When installing your new pads, don't forget the "Disk Brake Quiet" or whatever brand of brake goop to keep them from squealing when you are braking.

I just changed my pads all around though. I didnt use the disc brake quiet stuff though. So basically it squeals while braking and sometimes when just driving but only at slower speeds.

I am battling the same problem in my car right now. If yo pull off the wheel and check the rotor, youll probaly notice a small lip at the edge of the rotor. Also, youll see a small groove worn in the pads, my pads actually sit higher tha the top of the rotor, i don't know what kind of cheap pads were put in my car, but they don't fit right. Anyway, what I did was pull the pads off, and take a small file and file down the pads where they were over the groove, and over the edge of the rotor. I just did this this weekend, and it make the squeek better but didnt get rid of it, I need to go back in and see whats going on still. But anyway, just a little insight into what Ive found so far. I have a 99SE by the way.

I think you, like me, might have the same problem: Bad Wheel Bearings. Lift you car so that the wheels can move freely and wiggle the wheel. If there is some play, you probably have bad bearings ==> $$$$.

Get a new shim kit from Nissan and install it. Regrease the guide pins and use the moly lube on the back on the shim plates. The kit is about 35 bucks and is worth every penny. Your brakes will be nice and quiet again.

Sometimes I squeal while I'm driving. My dog's breath smells like catfood.

I ended up having my front rotors resurfaced and the noise has gone away.

nice to hear things worked out for you.

The reason i told you brake dust before was because i had some bad squealing at one point, and i decided to go buy some pads after i washed my car. As i was leaving the car wash the squealing was gone. Drove around some more, no noise. I had a bad case of brake dust
