Went to the track again (13.91 and 103.48)

Went the track again last night. Hoping to improve on my 13.99@100.0 that I put up last time. I was aiming for 13.8's

This time I used my 17" Rota's with 225/45/17 Kumho 712's in the front, as I was too lazy to swap the stock wheel/tire combo back on the car. This may not have been a bad thing.

My best ET:

Code:
60': 2.234
330': 6.035
1/8: 9.088@81.14
1000': 11.699
1/4: 13.918@100.28
So close to 13.8, yet so far away.

Best Trap:

Code:
60': 2.296
330': 6.113
1/8: 9.182@80.95
1000': 11.783
1/4: 13.988@103.48
I didn't really do anything different between the two runs. Very similar launches, etc. I still took it a tad easy shifting in fear of tranny damage.

I would think with a 103 trap speed I should be able to get 13.8's easy, however I don't think I'm going to do better than my 2.23ish 60' on street tires.

We had an all maxima.org final in the import division bracket racing. Maksim2000 and I. I cut a .499 RT and redlighted. You would think they'd consider that close enough!

Anyways, MEVI is in the mail! I'm aiming for 13.7's with it, then I've gotta get this damn clutch installed so I can put a smaller pully on there!

How the heck did your trap speed go up 3mph if you didn't do anything different. 1/8 traps are about the same. That's weird.

That's what's been driving me nuts! Same shift points...I played around with the 3-4 shift, but not on those runs.

how much different is the overall diameter of the tires you used on these runs vs. the previous runs? that and the weather could have some effect on your 3mph gain.

225/45/17's VS 215/55/16's

That's not the point. The two runs I listed above are on the same day, both last night. Tires and weather aren't part of the equation.

I just noticed that my 1/8 trap was LOWER on the run that I trapped 103 than the 100 run...I can't imagine how I'd pick up almost 3.5 extra mph in the top 1/8...

Wish I knew what I did...I'd do it every time!

LOL. That's been "coming soon" for quite a while now. Don't know when I'll get to it.

NA I ran a 14.54@95ish on 225/50/16 Nitto DR's
NOS 70 shot I ran a 14.07@99ish with the same DR's.

Did you run the previous 13.99 @ 100 with the Nitto's (15inch stock wheels?) with the same mods you have now,

Then you pulled a 13.91 with 17 inch wheels, and Kumho's, I may have to look into getting Kumho's if that is the case.

The 13.99@100 was with 16" SE wheels with 215/55/16 Goodyear RS-A's (stock tires) on them.

The better 60' times could have been because of more rubber in the track, as my 13.99 was the first weekend the track was open, and it was quite green.

However, I've noticed that with 17's (both on this car and my old one) I tend to trap a lot higher. I'm going to have a difficult time getting of the line no matter what (until I get slicks), so I figured upping my top end couldn't hurt!

That wasn't a good run. I think something like 14.1@102.

Yes it was about a 14.1, you can just watch the video timer and pause it when you get to the line

I was out at the local races a couple of weeks ago and saw a guy with a blue 02. He said it was a 13 second car because he had a taken the car and a stop watch out to the highway and observed how fast it was to the markers.

He drove a Saturn with neon all over it and a straight pipe, the max was a rental while it was in the shop which explains a lot.

That's hauling for the stock pulley. As for the trap speed difference, possibly it's related to some heat soak or an ECU fluke (timing retard, rich, O2 fluke, etc)

Doubt it...I was letting the car sit about the same time between runs (don't want to fry the clutch).

I suppose that could be.

Although, 100mph trap seems to be pretty normal for the stock pully. So, its like I added speed, not dropped it...

Maybe I didn't do well going in a straight line and made 1320 feet into 1330?
