Performance Chips

Has anyone ever purchased a performance chip for there Maxima? I have a 97 SE and considering it if it is worth the money. Also worried about any side affects that may damage the engine or transmission. Would like to have more power similar the newer 3.5 motor without spending a ton of money.

They don't make chips for our cars. You have to buy a ecu uprade, or a new ecu.

Thanks. I guess I'll go out and get an 03 before they are gone. I hate the looks of the 04 and it's approaching BMW/Audi prices.

At the dealer down the block, the '04 was like $500 more than the '03...

You really won't get remotly close to the power of a 3.5 without some serious mods. An ECU upgrade would help a tiny bit but the torque the 2k2+'s have is amazing, while you can get around their 1/4 mile times with a 5spd + all the bolt on's, the driveability will remain unmatched.
