Insurance+Mods
depends on your insurance, but generally, if you don't tell them, they only gonna give you $ for OEM parts... most insurances frown on stuff such as NOS... however, if you get into an accident and it's the other guy's fault, they should give you $$$ for all your mods, as long as you have receipts and such...
sometimes they give you a percentage of what it cost. Also, Ive heard that if your insurance company doesnt know of something like a motor swap or something extreme like that, if you were to get into an accident, your fault, they wouldnt cover you...Thats what i heard though...

My carbon fiber hood, wheel, tire, strobes, and HID were covered under insurance when I slid into a guard rail last summer. I called to add all the things on my car and my insurance company said no matter what I do they cover the car as is. I also pay out **** though.
same as Sadler, kinda... I carry a rider on my insurance (Progressive) for $3000 worth of custom parts. No, that doesn't even BEGIN to cover everything on this car, but if I'm in a wreck and it's my fault, that rider will at least cover anything that I break. when I get the turbo on, I may go another $1000 up on it or so.
only problem is they like to try to add depreciation on there if you make a claim, but their policies are always spelled out somewhere in black and white. mine actually covers "replacement cost" --- i.e. the Precision Power amps in my trunk are 7 years old, but if they get stolen/damaged in a wreck, they must replace them with a like substitute. since the PPI amps aren't available anymore, I have to replace it with something of similar quality and power output- which STILL costs $1500 for a 1200W PPI amp. get my drift?
but the big issue is what insurance company you use. some factor in depreciation, some go by replacement cost.

I do not want to pay any more for my insurance than I already do, so I do not want to tell my insurance company about my mods. If I have an accident that is my fault I am willing to take the loss on my mods. But if someone else causes an accident I think they should pay for my Max + mods, is that how it would work?

So even if I don't tell the insuance co. about my mods if someone else causes an accident I should get reimbursed for them?

and to the question above, insurance companies NEVER "take your word." You MUST have receipts
