B&M Shifter Review...

I got my B&M short throw shifter in yesterday and me and a friend installed it last night. The install was fairly easy.

It shifts awesome, and is very professional looking. Everything is anondized aluminum or nice weighty billet aluminum. I only paid 135 dollars shipped to my door. I ordered from Pascal Ling and he was very prompt and even found my phone number some how and gave me a call cross country to tell me he got my check and shipped out.

At first I was worried that the shifts were going to be too tough. But I loosened it to where it wasn't too firm. All the shifts are very short and barely notchy at all. All gears are easy to get into, it just takes a little getting used to knowing what gear you are in. It sits an inch or two lower than stock (looks great). The only problem is the shift **** they give you gets very, very hot in the sun. I fried my palm today when getting in the car (ruins my weekend activity ).

Cliffs Notes: Get the B&M STS. Shifts great, great price, high quality materials, and good directions.

Thanks Pascal (Tokio)

Look in the group buy forum, he has some for sale in there.

00Maxist,
Did you have to alter the heatshield at all? How long did it take for you and your friend to install it.

No altering the heatshield, everything fits in perfectly with no banging or anything. It took about an hour and a half but that was with out removing the cat, would have been a lot easier without having to try to look around the cat and maneuver your hands. I mostly just looked on, he's the mechanic. I can see where it would take an hour or less without the cat. We spent around 20 minutes trying to get one nut tightened on the base plate b/c we were trying to do it in the dark and trying to peer around the cat and stick our hands through a tight opening. Removing the cat would have been a huge help, but we were too lazy.

Let the car sit for a while so that the cat will cool and take it off. Follow the directions they give you in order. If you do all that it should be pretty easy.

I just installed this STS yesterday and it took my dad and I about 4-5 hours! haha well we're pretty mechanically inclined so i'm sure a real mechanic could have done it in an hour or so.

I was worried that the shifts might be too stiff and short too but it's not so bad. I really love this thing and of course the shifts are a little more stiff it's still very easy to get into gear and the shifts are very smooth as well. I love the shift from 1st to 2nd because with the stock shifter I remember it took years to get from the top to the bottom. I also like how it sits a lot lot lower than stock so it's not as bulky and big. And the shift **** is just okay, 00MAXIST is right that it gets too hot in the sun or too cold at night.

I also bought this from Pascal (tokio) and I have to thank him again because he let me pick the STS from him and I was able to call and ask him questions during the install and he was very helpful. So if you are looking for a STS I highly recommended the B&M STS that tokio is selling in the group deal forum! ME=

Give it two weeks, it gets worn in some and is so incredibly smooth I could cry.
