Well, I just wanted to take opinions on the new Z. Do you guys like it, hate it, aren't sure? I like it in a weird way. The front grille needs to be tweaked though and the body just doesn't seem to appeal to me the way the '96 model did. I guess I'll have to wait for the performance figures and see if that gets my heart rate up. Nissan says they want this to be the best handling sports car out there. Damn, they have some tough competition, but for under $30g I hope they can pull it off, or at least look cool while trying.

At first I wasn't sure...now I like it. After looking at it carefully, seeing multiple pictures, etc., it is VERY MUCH the same "Z" design. Lots of Z blood there plus a newer look. I agree that the front grill needs something done to it.

The rest of the body looks good to me. No enough like the TT for me to be upset, but there are similarities. Well, except that b/c the way the rear rises at the end you won't have any high-speed end-swapping disasters like the TT had. Oh, and...there is NO WAY Nissan could possibly make the new Z slower than the TT. The TT is slowest POS sports coupe/roadster you can get for $36k. Looks nice, but its a rip-off performance wise.

If I didn't have my heart (and wallet) set on a new Jaguar F-Type, I'd seriously consider the 350Z.

Sure its not "that slow" but it certianly isn't "that fast" for $36k+ range sports car. What is there to slow this down? It's small, decent wieght, and only two seats! If they put a decent engine in all of them, I'd have much more respect for them. The Turbo TT's are nice, but not nice enough.

Just checked a Road & Track...they have the TT's listed:

TT Coupe 1.8T $36,000 as tested 7.4 sec 0-60, 15.9 1/4mile
TT Roadster $42,961 as tested 6.6 sec 0-60, 14.8 1/4mile

Honda S2000 $32,756 as tested 5.5 sec 0-60, 14.1 1/4mile

Now explin to me why the TT is a good sports car? AWD is nice, but is it $10k more and one second slower worth of nice?? NO WAY! It's supposed to be a SPORTS CAR (..uhh..FAST)!

New Z

I will be getting one of the first ones delivered in North America. The order is already in, even though the final specs are not disclosed.

The specs on the car are incredible. Nissan advertises 275 h/p normallaly aspirated. It is the philosophy of Nissan not to import cars with more than 300h/p as it changes the duties and taxes and places the car in a different category. So, they de-tune them for the US market.

In talking to the design engineer at the Vegas International Z show, he indicated that it will make a lot more h/p without mods.

I have a friend who was able to ddrive the car in Japan and stated the performance was incredible. He also noted that with minor tuning, the car will be around 300 H/p before mods are available. the 0-60 is already expected to be in the 6 second and under range.

Also remember this car will be much lighter than the current Z32 body Style. The 350Z will be the leader in the sports market for the US.

This is a must buy car for $30,000 and under

Regards

I just hope it doesn't end up like the S2000, with a $10k dealer markup... Let's hope nissan produces them in quantity.

At first I wasn't too sure....

But the more I look at it, the more I like, no, love the new Z. I don't think the burnt orange colour the car was shown in did it justice...someone on TwinTurbo.net photoshoped the car in different colours...silver looked amazing! I think this car is going to be a huge hit! Also I don't think there will be the S2000 mark up because Nissan said they expect the Z to be profitable...which means it won't be in limited supply like the Honda. Expect to see a lot more Nissan's on the road in the very near future!

Also on a side note, I think there will be more performance parts available for us Max drivers since the Z will be using a VQ...mmm, more mods.

Hehe......

Just to clear some things up boys.....

This thread is about the 300ZX Twin turbo and the NEW Z......

Killermove is talking about the Audi TT sports car/coupe.(hence the 1.8T engine in the 36K car he talks about)

Don't ask me where came up with that

I am also looking at the new mazda rx-8. Both look to be fun, but I need somewhat of a rear seat every now and then.
