I have seen people coilovers set ups in the past and i am stuck between weapon-r and GC. Now weapon-r can lower more but GC gives me an option in sprint rates. Now which of these has the new strut mount that is adjustable at the top for things like camber? Also what do u think is better and why?

 

gc nor weapon r have the adjustible strut mount for camber. Thats a camber kit. I "think" full coilovers like JIC's come with the camber adjustment. Jason sadler told me about his weapon r's. I think they are no different then the GC's.

 

Um neither has an adjustable strut mount. They're just springs on sleeves. You install them just like lowering springs. You still have to use regular shocks (factory, Tokico, KYB, etc.)

Weapon R lowers more, but the quality is suspect. And I personally prefer the allen key adjustment collar on the GC's way better (I have the GC's now, have ahd them for 2.5 years). however, you can spec spring rates with either one as they use standard coilover springs that can be purchased.

Only real coilovers will have adjustable strut mounts, ie: JIC's, Kei's, and old Cattman's. His newer cheaper version is non adjustable.

I'm working on a custom set of coilovers that should drop the car almost to the ground and we're custom cutting camber plates that allow camber adjustment. We'll see how it turns out.

True, true. Maybe ill get there but i want something more than these stupid progress springs.

 

I have realer coilover and have shelled it out, and shelled out way more than that on many other things...i promise it's worth it. I'm not here to screw you, if you dont want springs and shocks and really want coilovers don't go cheap cuz in the end it will cost you more and a big *** headache.

 

This is very true. If you do it right the first time, then you really don't pay that much more. Swapping out parts gets expensive. I went from Intrax to GC's now I'm going with custom coilovers. If I had just done real coilovers in the first place, I would have saved a couple of bucks.

Just like I got the Stillen SC when I really wanted a turbo, now I'm selling the SC and getting a turbo built. So in the end, it's best to save for exactly what you want instead of settling.

 

i got my cattman gen 2 (true colovers for 440 shipped used with 10k miles)



so it was not too expensive..

 

Damn, that's an insane deal Jeff. If I had found them for that cheap, I wouldn't even be working on my new setup. But all the Cattman's I saw for sale were like $700+ and some were gen1's.

Does anyone know anything about the taiwanese/ Korean made Hotbits coilovers for the maxima ?

They're available here in Australia for $AUD2000.00 (Oz $ = Us65c atm)

 

They are made in Taiwan or Korea??? I thought they were made in house in Canada?

Hotbits costs from 1600-2000 I believe. Damn expensive....
