I made a trip to the track tonite and on my first race I lost to a Neon, ran it in 23 sec @ 53 mph, the clutch slipped bad. Didn't even move in first. But the good news is i ran a best of 14.9 @ 94mph with a bad clutch. Bet all my friends times , 7 of them, all Hondas. One last thing, can anyone tell me about reaction time? Some of mine were;.154 , .614 ,.116 and .729.Thanks

reaction time of .5 is perfect anything below and you will red light which dq's you in a competition. you should see 3 orange lights in succession then green. I always go as soon as the third orange lights up and usually react .55-.60.

Are you serial??? 23 seconds-I can ride my bicycle faster than that. Why would you race if your clutch is that f#%$d up? I don't race at a track, but from what I've been reading on this board it sounds impossible to run a 14.9 @ 94mph with a bad clutch that doesn't move in 1st gear. Maybe you had the tornado mod??

Reaction time does not figure into your quarter mile time(ET).

Reaction time only means anything if your going heads up with another car.

Good run with the 14.9@94mph. Where are you located and what was your 60 foot time?

As far as going head to head with another car...

I think I know what you mean... I've seen (ex.) car 1 beat car 2 by just a tad but because of the rt, car 2 wins.
That's what you mean...
So if you're solo, then does that mean that you can actually sit there for a sec after the green and still run your best???

RT means nothing if you are going for a personal best time, the clock doesn't start till you move out of the staging lights

it only matters in headsup and bracket racing. or just the simple fact in seeing how fast you can react

Are you *sure* your clutch was slipping? Or were your tires spinning/not hooking up? I can't figure out how you go from a badly slipping clutch to a 14.9/94.0 on the same night... I don't doubt your word, OK? I'm just curious... Nice time, by the way!

The first time I went to the track, I dropped the clutch at the start, and smoked the fronts until the car started to hook up. I sat there "forever" before I moved, too. Then I "bunny-hopped" another 30 feet before I finally hooked up good. It was kinda embarrassing, and funny. Hop, hop, hop! I'm sure all the Chevy dudes were thoroughly disgusted with me before I even got 60' down the track... Oh well. Live and learn.

Yes, I'm sure it slipped because it has happened two other times. Plus last nite after the first run there was a burnt smell from the clutch.

I was just recalling that a lot of oldtimers designed their drivetrains such that their clutch was the weakest link. If their clutch broke, it was the least expensive and easiest part to replace... Hmmm.
