Summer Tire Recommendations?

I am looking for some summer tires to go on my Mazda RX-7 rims on my maxima. I am thinking 225/55-16 size ? Any opinions on that?

Now these tires will be on all summer long, so they will need to handle occasional rain.
Tirerack has the Kuhmo 712s on sale....
I want to keep the price down, but would be willing to pay more money for a exceptional tread wear.
Local Firestones have buy 3 get one free deals usually as well....

Thanks!

I went through 3 sets of kumho 712s. Although this tires are nice, I'm done with SUMMER TIRES. I'm only gonna get all season touring tires now on.
Dry traction is obviously pretty good on the kumhos, but wet traction, especially if the tires are even slightly "fat" (over inflated. like 34 psi), the traction is not too good. Plus this tires wear pretty fast and ride is not too soft.. and pretty noisy.. BUT, hey, its cheap enough, and I also like the special "tread indicators" on this tires.

I just got rid of my 712's. I picked up a new set of Yokohama AVS dBs for just over $400 shiped to my door. These are great inexpensive tires. They are unbeliveably quiet for a performance tire. The only complaint I may have is the turn in, because it feels a little bit sloppy initialy, however after the turn in, they are very controlled and predictable. The percieved sloppy turn in is probably just like any other tire, It's only different to me because I have been riding around on tires without tread for some time now.

Wow. I actually think the wet traction is quite good. At least they are miles better than the Dunlop D60 A2 all-season tires I used to have. For a cheap tire, I think the Kumhos are excellent. And it looks like I will be getting 3 season out of them.

My next tire though will be Bridgestone S-03's. Really high marks for dry/wet/durability. Not terribly expensive either.

712's are excellent for DRY traction, but they hella suck in the rain. whenever i drive my celica and take turns fast when the ground is wet, i always lose traction.

why, did u have 712's when u spun out on 17?

New format rubber-band tires? j/k I'm sure you meant 225/50/16.

All kidding aside, I just got Yokohama AVS ES100 in that size. They grip great in the dry & wet. Their very quiet to boot.

An FYI. If you do get the S-03's, be prepared to replace them every 15k-18k miles. Fantastic traction wet and dry, but do not last long.
