Redline.

However, the jury is still waiting for the proof. Too bad I don't put miles on fast enough and NOBODY gets their MT fluid analyzed.

Another 8-9K and I'll have a Redline MT-90 sample, but that will take me about a year to rack up.

Personally, I would get Amsoil Series 2000 gear oil for your 5-speed.

Either will do fine, though.

On this topic, there are many subjective opinions but few, if any, quantitative facts.

I don't grab my opinions out of my butt like some members here, so please don't blanket-assess everyone.

If you were that concerned, you would have taken the initiative to download the oil spreadsheet linked in my sig, read it, and realized there is a virgin analysis of Amsoil Series 2000 and "regular synthetic" gear oils as well as scoobybrande's Amsoil gear oil analysis, and IceY2K1's Nissan conventional gear oil analysis to get a feel of what is different from an additive standpoint.

Maybe I should have used the word "qualitative" rather than "subjective". All I meant was that there is a lot experiential feedback which is certainly useful. To help complete that picture, quantitative infomation that backs up the analysis and interpretation is also important. I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my statement as being stereotypical because it certainly wasn't meant to come across that way.

The data in your spreadsheets is certainly interesting. Though to try to help answer the question posed in this original post of this thread about "Redline vs Amsoil", data about Red Line fluids would be useful.

btw, thanks bill99gxe for directing me to your spreadsheet and that Oil & ATF Analysis Spreadsheet thread.

That's why he recommended Amsoil. Not because Amsoil has PROVEN to be better, but because Redline MT-90 is unknown and doesn't have any results in *his* data. So, we shall see. I'm optimistic that my 30K(15K sample) results will be VERY useful.

We need more people who put TONS of miles on their cars for test mules though. I just don't rack them up fast enough to put these issues to rest.

That or I actually DRIVE ENOUGH miles to get valid samples.

I've got two already(virgin 10W-40 and Sentra sample), but I should be getting my Redline 10W-40 sample results back any day now.

SOOOoooo you'll just have to wait.
