HELP!! Car whining and 2 lights go on!! HELP!

Tonight I went driving after having listened to music in my car while it was stopped for 10 minutes. After a minute of driving the BRAKE light came on with the CHECK BATTERY light. The car acted normally, so I continued to drive. I then turned off my music and heard my engine making a buzzing/wizzing sound, that increased with engine speed. It kind of reminded me of the sound my alternator made when it went out a long time ago. I didn't notice any lights dimming, or anything like that. What do you think it could be? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Just to let you know, I do listen to music a lot when the car is off. And there is some of that white chalky stuff on the battery terminal that I need to clean up.

The only thing I could think of that makes a whining noise and goes with the acceleration is if you have low Steering Fluid. So check that. If tghe brake light came on then check your brake fluid. Or!! It could be your drive belt going bad that could cause whining the sometimes whining is the sign of your belts going. Your alternator is attached to your drive belt so if that goes then so does your power. So check your drive belts, heck all of them to make sure they are fine. No Cracks, too loose, etc. Check your PS pump fluid level to make sure thats fine.

ok well battery and brake light mean alternator. Either for a second the alternator wasn't charging because the belt was loose or wet. Or maybe your alternator going. Oh you should also change your battery the white stuff will block your terminals from being charged through the alternator clean it with baking soda and warm water it should come right off. But I think it's your alternator from what you described bring it to auto zone to have it checked out
