It replaces the cat.

Testpipe terminology is really a misnomer, makes it somehow sound legitimate because you are just testing 365 days a year vs running an illegal polluting environmental saving bypass.

BTW I do it too.

Get an old cat and punch it, at least if someone looks under your car it looks legit, even if it doesn't smell legit.

I think you guys have a bung welded in the cat for the 02 so maybe that's why they didn't produce any for you.

I've got a test pipe. Not that it helped or anything though...

Warpspeed sells them for 95/96 for $25.

Well now that I know what it is, I wouldn't get one. I feel some moral obligation to not purposely f*** up the environment.

Call the president of mexico and get them to put catalytic converters on all their cars too. They don't have them down there.

I know I was just joking. It's a good point you make. I've considered putting my cat back on if I can find it in my garage. I lost my strut bar in there somewhere too... people keep moving things on me.

I just noticed in your sig ,you have a spot where you are going to get a y-pipe are you going to weld the precats in? Because hipocrit your car will hurt the environment more now. But you might say it will still pass sniffer, but your "moral obligation" will not allow you to add one more once of pollution to the air. Remember the more cats the cleaner the air.

Well the Y-pipe doesn't eliminate the treating of the exhaust gases completely. The test pipe and Y-pipe would eliminate all cats, resulting in exhaust being released completely untreated. So installing the Y-pipe would make no difference after warm-up, and a minimal difference before warm-up.
