OK the car is officially a loss

value of the car 12,720.50 + sales tax 763.23 = 13483.23
-500 deductable

so as of right now... 12,900 roughly is what i will be getting from the insurance company

i am stripping the car of all mods this weekend. sigh..

So, what do you think i should do next?

i want to stay nissan. i am not sure if i want to foot a new car payment.

get another RED maxima?
get a (95+) 240 and do a siliva or even a RB25DET swap
350z
G35 coupe

I will not be leavig the ORGY though. you will not get rid of me that easily

That's their FIRST offer? Negotiate. ie.. list work done ie.. maintaiance, upkeep etc.... can you find sale ads for maximas that are selling for more?? Remember, their first offer is usually just a lowball. I got thousands more after negotiating. But your first offer isn't too bad but there's more to be made here

that was there only offer

they take the average trade in value from the state of PA

they do not use KBB or NADA

they get 2 or 3 values and add them together and then divide the total to get the total value..

My vote is for the 240. I am more partial to the sr20 swap because it is easier bu the RB25 has more torque.

I would still negotiate. There's no incentive to give you alot of $ for the car. How do they choose the 2- 3 cars? Have you researched how they got those three cars? Were they even CLOSE to being as nice as yours?

So are you buying the car back like I did? Or are they just letting you have it for a couple days to switch the mods?

If you didn't have a kid, I would say a 240. Honestly, if I had the the money I would either get a 350z or G35. But if you already have all the mods, you might be able to find a red five speed somewhere.

If you still love your maxima, then by all means find another. Your car is definitely one of the nicest and cleanest around. Maybe get a different color and have it painted. Well that would probably be expensive, but it may be easier than finding another red 99.

If you're tired of the max and feel it's time to move on, go for the 240. They look sweet, RWD, and have huge modding potential.

I got thousands more than their original lowball quote w/o a lawyer. Cost of hiring one would kill any increase in value you would receive anyway. Unless it was more than 2-3 grand or so. Laywer is not necessary w/ the right tools. Tools that I've given Jeff already

Jeff told me he's going to call a lawyer tonight....so that should give him all the help he needs if he can do it on his own, this lawyer will tell him how, which i'm sure it's very possible to get more. Insurance companies are the devil

Trade-in value??? WTF? You're not trading it in. They should give you private party or dealer resale values.

Good luck mang.

Trade-in value??? Bullsh!t!! It's their duty to give you enough money to replace the car - that means enough that you can go buy a '99 from a dealer's lot!

Go around to the local dealers and compile pricing on '99s and hand them the three highest. Demand the average of those three.

Wait a sec... Deductable???

Is *YOUR* insurance paying for this? What about her insurance? I heard there was some debate on whether she was insured but I figured that had been sorted...

Insurance companies are supposed to give you replacement value, what it costs to go buy another max just like yours with your mileage and your options.

Yup definately two things very wrong.
1) Trade in value. You ain't trading it in. You have to BUY a new car. Trade in has nothing to do with you bro. (Scruit-credit)
2) Deductable. THEIR insurance had nothing to do with YOUR insurance's deductable. (Scruit credit again)

Dude, there's probably a few grand in 1) and 2) for you here.

I think a 97+ 240 would be pretty sweet, but you'd need to swap the engine, dunno if you can deal with that downtime. It'd be ridiculusly fast and handle quite a bit better than the Max. Maybe its just around my area, but I honestly don't think I've ever seen one, so it'll be pretty unique.. much more so than the maxima.

on the deductible.. you should get a 4 door b.c. of the kid. Sucks to have a 2 door when you have a baby.
