Maxima 2003 6speed

Well i am about to go and buy a 2003 maxima. Well i wanna hear your opinions and how satisfied are you with the car. Any problems? Any things i should look for. With every car there are some things that are just there and cant be fixed. Is there anything like that with 2003 maxima?

Thanks in Advance
Dan

I bought my 2003 Max about 1 month ago. I havn't had it long enough to form a valid/solid opinion on it, but if first impressions count, i'm extremely happy with my purchase so far.

I love my '03 Gray Luster almost like life itself. I haven't had any probs with mine yet either (now in my 3rd week of ownership), or really found anything to extremely dislike about the car. No regrets.

I love my 03 despite it's few quirks...the Bose is DEFINITELY not a go with this car, DO NOT I repeat, DO NOT buy it!!!!!!!

with that said, besides the sh!tty Blose system, I love it and I appreciate it more as time rolls on.....very powerful, a bit too powerful for me sometimes..

you will be very happy with it as long as you swap out your suspension with somethin less floaty like my Maxspeed/GR-2 setup...

The 6spd have a mean set of ***** especially above 4000rpms. If the motor isnt broken in yet, you dont know this yet. Get rid of the break in oil at the 1000mile mark and get some better oil (not synthetic until 10k) and rev it up all you want. They do run low 14's stock with a good driver. Im gettin 1 soon w/o bose (I have components in the closet with amps, ect..) w/o leather (I can get better installed for less then $1k, when the dealer adds $1400) All I need is the moon roof and 6spd and the rest ill take car of myslef. Hope you got the HLSD with the 6spd too, this things got torque steer like that motha!

Well since you are coming from BMW as I can see on your screen name I bet the only problem you'll find is body roll. But with some good aftermarket suspension I bet you can fix it. It might nor feel like the BMW but sure is faster.

Yeah, kinda 4got to mention that since my suspension has not been stock for a while. One of the best combos of struts/springs are IMO the Tein springs paired with the KYB-GR2 sturts. They drop 2.2 in the front and 1.6 in the rear. The difference from the front and rear once dropped is the front is just 0.25" lower so its nice drop but not low enough to the point your bottomin out here and there. The ride is pretty rough til the springs settle but its just fine there after. Get a RSB (rear sway bar) and a FSTB (front strut tower bar) and your setup (handling wise)should be a bit better then your bimmer as is unless you got the AcSchnitzer's or something else in there, them I cant really compare

The RSB is 100-200ish depending on what brand progess or stillen. They both work the same but stillen is just better looking
The Teins are usually 170ish but check the group buy forums Phoenix is selling them for $150 there are I belive 3 group deals goin of for the KYB-GR2's from 240-260. The FSTB is anywere from 50-150ish algain depending on brand. You can find the sturts bars and the rsb's at www.southwestautoworks.com or www.custommaxima.com Either or. If you do all the work yourself it will be 600-800 range depeding on brands ect.. but if you get em installed it might surpass the 1k mark. Ive personally spend 600 on mine including the sturts, springs and FSTB but I do not have the RSB yet which does make a considerable difference.
