I think I'm falling for a 5th gen :)
I think I'm falling for a 5th gen :)
I had a chance to spend a good 4 hours with a 2k max and all I can say is it's very nice. Fully loaded auto. The build quality is much better than my 99, it feels a lot more solid all around. The seats are great and very supportive this time around. Too bad the auto has very tall gears otherwise it would be a very quick ride. Now, the handling is about 4 times better than my ride with GR2s. I don't think this car had any aftermarket struts because they didn't look like aftermarket to me. But the car was VERY firm for stock struts which I enjoyed very much. If all you 5th geners are enojoying a firm ride then I'm very envious of you
This car did have 235/45/17ZR tires though, but shouldn't change the firmness of the car. It has very responsive steering on and off the highway, and tons and tons of grip even in the rain, but that's because of the Z rated tires. By the way these were on stock rims too. All and all I think I'm falling in love
Peace.

Thanx for the comments guys! I think my GR2s are leaking though and my alignment wasn't setup right when they weren't leaking so I didn't get a change to enjoy the GR2s on my ride.
I checked for any aftermarket parts in the suspension of the car, but all looked stock to me. The car rode very firm, almost M3 firm as I've driven both. Also, I didn't see a sway bar in the rear. i don't know, maybe it was just that particular 5th gen. In that case I want THAT 5th gen lol but in a 5spd. It's cool how you can feel the switch over at about 5k rpm in second gear. Anyway I'm just going on and on and on about this.
Peace.

i have a 3rd gen SE5spd. i drove a 5th gen SE5spd about a year ago. and man that thing was nice. and faaaaaaasssst. i would not even consider a 4th gen after that, as those are cheaper feeling, especially the interiors of those. 3rd or 5th. or both. i like the look of an SE 4th gen, though.

remotemax, now, being that i am a maxima fan, and i like them all for traits that each generation has that the other one does not; i can find good things in all of them as well as bad, the 99 SE as far as i recall is more mechanically similar to the 2K 5th gen than it is to it's preceding 4 gen brothers and sisters (plus it is a beautiful car). i think that it may have either suspension or exhaust or a host of other things that the other 4th gens do not have. does this ring a bell? maybe i should go to the 4th gen forum.
