Stillen Lip preparation question

Ok...I bought a stillen lip (used) and whoever the ******* paintshop was didn't add a flex agent when they painted the lip. Of course you all know that the paint has since cracked and started chipping. Now..My car is dark green, and I will be getting the whole kit repainted (its all currently white) but should the lip be stripped down or can the flex agent be added in the primer from here and then repainted?

Thx in advance.

I guess the shop should be able to answer your question better. But my guess is that it has to be stripped down since the current paint has already cured.

ye suse sandpaper...and clean it with Comet cleaner and green scratchpad afterwards...if the original treatment on the urethane was not properly removed prior to initial painting ... it is gonna do that everytime...good luck

hmmm... the idea of using paint thinner sounds good, as long as the urethane is okay with it. should I sand it afterwards so the paint adheres better?

I'm not sure that the paint thinner can exist with the urethane...u run into an acid prossibly eating through your urethane lip...would work on metals and wood. I wouldn't want to be the first to test out paint thinner on my lip...so I'll stick to sand paper..thanx!

paint stripper

look for Bulldog Flexible Bumper Stripper by Klean Strip. Safe for urethane. Check Autozone or Pepboys, they should have it or a product that is similar.
