Tint on Sunroof?

I just got my Max tinted with Llumar Platinum Plus. The shop did an awesome job and it looks really good on the Max. I was coming home from the shop and decided to open my sunroof panel. I was almost blinded by the bright sun coming through. I was checking to see who all got the sunroof tinted as well. With the panel open, it seems as though the rest of the tint job is worthless.

Before I get

I will be posting pics once it stops raining.

Sunroofs are made to enjoy the sunshine. If you don't like it, close the hatch. If you want sun, open it up. IMHO putting tint on a sunroof is retarded.

I'll be tinting my moonroof...my sister and my girlfriend's Honda and Acura have tint moonroofs and I like them a lot. It should make the interior less hot and less intense. Maybe I'll try and tint it myself, since it's such a small rectangle.

Yes, made to enjoy the sunshine, not BAKE THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD! With no tint, the shade might as well BE the sunroof because you can't leave it open or you'll get cooked through the glass.

I tinted mine 15% and enjoy it much more now that I have 3 choices (shade closed, shade open, window open) instead of two (shade closed, window open).

Craig Mack, what are you talking about? You can still see easily out the sunroof with 5%... it's backlit by this multi-million candlepower thing. At night you don't have to see out, or you can open it. When the sun is shining you have to keep the shade closed so it's useless as a vent.

I say to the way it came stock and to 5% or mirror tint.

Any worries about cracking the glass from the heat? Here in Hawaii, I've been told to tint the sunroof w/ reflective tint, not smoke/charcoal. And even then, there's no guarantees.

No worries. Besides the platinum plus is reflective.

If you don't mind me asking...

How much did this run you? I have a 2K2 Maj Blue as well, and I've always wanted this kind of tint. Mine are still stock.

that's an old wives tale... there is no problem tinting a sunroof.

and to whomever mentioned the laws about tinting the roof... there are none. There's a piece of cardboard you can use to cover it and that doesn't break any laws, so making it darker shouldn't worry any law enforcement people

is this particular brand of tint available at any auto glass/tint shop? I think it looks nasty and would really like it on my black 03SE.

40%

I wanted to stay legal. With the factory tint (70% or whatever it is), it brings the total to 34.6 or 34.7%. I wanted a reflective tint because the flat black at 35% would have looked ghey.

i got my windows tinted about 4 days ago. i went with 17 percent all the way around. well the back window, where all those small dots are on the upper part of the window. will the tint just settle into those spots or will it look like its coming off and or not flat on the window when you look at it from the outside. did i just get a bad job?

It's sounds like you got a bad job. They should have cut off the tint where the small dots at the top begin, that's how it is done on my I30 and it looks great. When I got the tint done on my Altima the did when over the little dots and now it is peeling at the top after a little over a year. Luckily I have a lifetime warranty on the Altima 2.5S so I going to take it back, but now I'm worried about them pulling the tint and messing up my antenna and rear defrost.

For some reason I can't see pics

BUT - I had 35% Platinum Plus put on my black I35 on Tuesday, so I know what it looks like

I love it.

EDIT: I had mine done where 2k2PhatMax had his done, and they cut the tint off at the dots and place black vinyl over them. It looks good.

5% all around and a 20% on the windshield, i wanted to do the sunroof but guy told me "in 20 years of tinting, i have never did a sunroof nor have I did a job as dark as yours", i told him he needs more experiences.
