GC and AGX combo

For those who have gc/agx, how are your agx holding up? Supposedly, agx will not honor their warranty if they find out you're lowered...and especially if you're on gc. Well, kinda hard to hide the scratch marks made by the gc sleeve. So just wondering how long the AGX will last before I need another set?

KYB's warranty is good for a drop up to 1.5 inches. Doesnt matter which spring their coupled with.

There not bullet proof.. I know someone who had there max slammed with gc's and had the agx's set to 4/8 and one of their struts blew..

The key word was almost.

Most shock failures are caused by improper installation or mishandling. The slightest scratch or knick on the polished piston will cause the seal to fail. Once that happens, the Nitrogen charge weeps out, then the oil foams, after that happens you can kiss it goodbye.

That's why it's very important to use dust covers.

haha. So it seems like a tossup between Koni yellow vs agx. Any other thoughts on agx durability?

Consider the Tokico illumina's, similar in price to Koni's

I've had Koni/Ground Controls on my car for almost 1/2 year now and I have it lowered almost 2.5 inches all around with no problems. I bought the entire setup used from a buddy of mine who had them for 2 years. He used them on his 2k maxima at shows and road coarses and had them set pretty low.

As of today, the Koni's are amazing. They ride perfectly and dont even feel like older shocks.

On the other hand, another friend of mine has GC's and agx's on his 2k1 for more than 1 year and already 1 shock has blown. And he sets the suspension around 1.5 - 2 inches.
