I'm running 2 15" Kicker XPL C woofers with 500 watts going to each woofer, 150 watts each 6.5" MB Quart front speaker and 80 watts each 6.5" Soundstream SPL 6.5" component rearspeaker. I have not yet dB raced the Maxima but I hope I'm in the mid to upper 130 dB range.

My car hit 133dB at my last competition.. It's built for sound quality though.

I believe chad hit 142dB in his 4th gen with a pair of Alumapro 12s.

This is a good question. I'm sure we will never find out b/c things only keep improving.

With my old setup, I was able to hit 140.3dB in my 99 Max. During the time i had my Alpine CVA-1000, MB Quart DSD216, Coustic X-over w/ bass remote, PG Line Driver, PPI A600, MTX 225HO, Three 1 Farad Caps, and my trio of 10W4's. Yes 10W4s. When I had my pair of 12W3's, i was only hitting high 120's.

I plan on hitting 155 at least when I get my Maxima with 2000 watts...

I hit 146.something with my 3 12w6 JL audio subs (for sale) running 1 ohm from my Phoneix Gold amps before they were stolen. I haven't run the system with my PPI mono block amp (also for sale). My car is set up for both SQ and DB, with Image Dynamics HLCDs and midbasses. My new set up should crush that number, I hope. 2 of the new JBL GTI woofers each powered with a BP 1200.1 which is a mono block that produces 1374.6 watts@14.4volts, run in a sealed box for better sound. Well see what happens, should be interesting, anyone interested in the PPI amps (9 months old) or the JL subs please e-mail me, I need to get rid of them soon.

I am a bit underpowered, I hit only 138dB with my two 18s, but I bet I got the sweetest, deepest bass.

Hey dude, those look like Electro Voice 18" d18mt woofers... I used to do DJ work and had a few of those... I'd never imagine to put them in a car though.....

I've also noticed that, some times bigger is not louder... (i'm not saying sounding better...).. at some the DB races, 2 12s can sometimes beat 3 15s... seems to be alot of hit or miss in the system...

It all depends upon the box construction, the power supplied to the woofers and how well the car is insulated ie dynomat etc. I hope my 2 12 will hit harder than any 15's. The other thing is the type of listening, 15's are a good DB sub but in SQ quests it can be a poor choice, the subs sometimes are sloppy and don't hit correctly.

That is true, I have seen 12s hit 150dB. I am actually planning on changing the 2 18s to either 1 12" Stroker or 2 12" Squares. My subs are made by Bag End, very good concert, club, etc. speakers. They retail for 470.00 each. I would keep them, but I am actually going for some speed right now, so I want to get rid of them. If anyone wants to buy them, for their car or home, or whatever, I will get rid of them cheap.

I'm not sure what I'd hit, I have two Infinity Perfect 12s off a DEI 1100d @ 2 ohm mono. I'm thinking about dropping another two Perfects in the back along with another 1100d wired in parallel. 1 ohm mono

A few years ago I hit 130 with 1 12" kicker solobaric in my old chevy celebrity. I was running it with a PPI PC250 which they say is good for 200w. Just thought that I would throw that one out there. I'm not sure what I would hit now with my Boston Pro 12".

Maxstilln. How much are you looking for that PPI amp? I want a better sub amp, but I want to stay with PPI. Thanks!

141.6 with 2 JL audio 10w1's in a ported jl spec box running off a soundstream 405
something around 220 watts going to them total.
the system i had in my max was as follows

eclipse 5301 head unit
macrom 5.34 co-insidal's {5 1/4's}
2 JL audio 10w1's in ported box,
soundtream refference 405
marantz EQ 130 home equalizer converted for 12 volt
audio control 24xs x-over

then i was getting ready for a DB drag and hit 149.2 with two eclipse alum 12's in a sealed box with a fosgate 800.1 amp pushing it. kept killing the car and popping fuses. im sure i could have gotten over 150 with the 12's just couldn't keep fuses in the damn thing. {halfassed install}
now i have a stock infinity system in my eclipse. it sucks in all kinds of directions.

I got 154 with 2 vega seies 15's and a JBL 600 watt rms amp on each one. They put a little crack in the windshield that kept getting bigger over time, but someody liked them more than me and they got stolen. Now I dont want to spend that kind of money on car stereo anymore so I just got 2 xlc 10's just to round the music out.

Sound Quality is the name of the game!!
My highest is 135db. I should have hit it harder, but I didn't set the EQ for db, it was still set for SQ. This will be the last season for my baby. I will put her out to pasture/retire to find a good home come summer. *snif* Everything goes except the amps....unless they are willing to step up to the plate. Moving on to a WRX.

Well, last tested
Mine hit 144.8 on 1/18/01.
4-10" Mobile Authority in a spare tire well box
1-(big *** cheater amp and I can't tell you who makes it) encased in a matching Mobile Authority amp shell.

This is while the subs were in good condition, by now, I have torn those puppies up. God knows having my business (read free replacement) comes in handy when I tear them up every day

All you AZ folks can hear it on Saturday at the Scottsdale BBQ right?
I need a camera to post some pics.
