$1800 plus four hour drive equals 95SE 5sp

Well I have returned to the org, I honestly I never left I have visited daily since I got rid of my Maxima last year; this weekend I picked up my 6th Maxima in the last 10 years. It is a 95se 5sp; last December I had to get rid of my 97se. I picked up a Legend coupe 5sp (link below) great car but lacked to low end punch I missed from the VQ. I found a deal I could not not pass up. The car is in great shape the mileage extremely high but the tranny, engine and clutch work great. The car was driven by a woman in sales. In less than 24 hours have:

rewired the fogs
rewired the corners
installed intake
had Neuspeed muffler installed
and replaced both front wheel bearings

The only thing the car needs is control arms and new struts and springs. Then I can finish the modding The owner posted the ad Wednesday night, I saw it Thursday afternoon and drove 300 miles and picked it up Sat morning. Even with the unbelievable mileage the engine feels just as strong as my 97 did with only 70K miles. I have not added the Y pipe and the car feels so quick, maybe the 95s are a hair quicker in either case I am sooooooooooooooooooooo glad to be back I really enjoyed the Legend, but the stock Maxima with the exorbitant amount of miles was still quicker than my Legend with test pipe, intake and flowmaster muffler and new throttle body. Right now the car is pretty plain Jane saw blades no leather no Bose just a tape player. I will be honest when first got the car I was going do a little work and sell it here; but the car is great so it is a keeper. After I installed the intake and got the bearings replaced I took her out and I thought wow THIS is what I missed. I am glad to be back.

I also want to know how many miles are on it. . . I recently got my wheel bearing replaced (rear right), and my car only has 88k on it.

Mileage is unbelievable....

I am certain that I have the highest mileage 4th GEN, I am in the 300K mile club; but trust me the engine is strong as any other 4th Gen I have had. This morning while the engine was still cold I spun practically all the way through 1st gear. The engine was maintained by the dealer, I have about 40 receipts on maintenance. I thought the VG was the true bullet proof engine but the VQ appears to hold up well.

Hey your car is sweet, I saw you making the right turn on Harlem, I saw the clears and kit and muffler and I figured you were on the orgy. It is just killing me doing this 4X4 thing on saw blades; but then I think of the deal I got and I get over it

how much did you have to put it for it to pass inspection/smog check? Does A/C work?

Everything still works AC is cold and it passed emissions earlier this year. The car was driven by a middle aged woman and all the maintenace was done by the dealer. AS I stated earlier butt dyno says it pull just as hard as my 97 with 1/5 of the miles.

Wow its glad to know that a max can last that long and still be strong. Makes me feel good that I bought the right car. Hey has the the timing chain replaced, it is suppossed to be like at 250k. If not thats expensive repair.

Carl, it is good to be back.......

Baggy Boy, I learned from you sometimes you let the cat out the bag until you verify that everything is fine When I spoke to you I had not purchased the car yet.

Thanks guys,

I will have pics up this weekend.

that is an excellent way to save a ton of $$$ driving a great car. There are so many cars driven by ladies and maintained at the dealer, but 300K I would say this is a truly special Maxima, better built than others.

Don't some cars companies WANT cars with that many miles for pictures and such?

I've seen some comercials/ads celebrating some guy/girl driving their car over XXX,XXX miles.

Maybe Nissan would want that car for some ad?

300k is no prob as long as you have good compression. rings last longer, generally, on later model cars than they did back in the day. what would concern me, other than the type of miles driven, is the health of the valves. those will typically start to fail sooner than the piston rings.

but you got the car for a steal! so have fun with it.

congrats.
