V8 in a Maxima?

I put a Ford 302 V8 in my Maxima last night. Took about 20 mins. Handling was terrible because of the extra weight.

Then I took it out of the *trunk* again when I got to the machine shop. I was taking the engine from my Bronco to get it dipped/fluxed/milled etc. $200 machine work and a $00 master rebuild kit later, it should be as-new.

You didn't think I meant installed it under the hood did you??

I was trying to be *somewhat* realistic.

What about the FWD V8 from the 97-98 Taurus SHO? 240hp. Still only drags the SHO to a 7.4 0-60 though.

This V8 from my truck is 200HP, 300TQ. Only spins up to 5k. All the power is at 2500-4000. I'll get pics after I pick it back up from the machine shop. I'm getting;

Machine shop work;
- Dip/Strip/Magnuaflux
- Check bores, and bore/hone as needed
- Align hone Mains
- new freeze plugs/cam bearings
- Block/heads Decked
- Basic valve job
- Check/polish crank journals
My work;
- Removed/torn down
- Gasket matching intake
- reassmbly/reinstall

New parts;
- everything - every gasket, pistons/valves/rings/bearings/rods/cam/oil pump/lifters etc

This is a blueprint (rebuild to stock) not a performance job. Pity it doesn't have MAF, because I could go with ported heads/headers/catback and a bigger intake for some serious extra power. It's a Speed Density system (MAP) instead of MAF, so the computer wouldn't be able to sens the extra air and it'd run lean. Maybe a MAF conversion?

What won't be FWD? V8 from the SHO in a max?

==============
The all new '96 Taurus platform gave the engineers a chance to provide the new SHO with something special under the hood. Yamaha built the old SHO's 3.0 and 3.21iter 220HP V6's. The new engine is a quadcam, 32V V8 with 3.4 liters displacement. Tuned rather mildly for its specifications, it is rated at 235HP @6000RPM and 230lb.ft. of torque @4800RPM. That is only up 15HP from the older model, but the power comes on faster and is much smoother. Taking the SHO up to the 7000RPM redline is quite exhilarating! This new 3.4 liter aluminum cylinder block with iron liners is made by Ford in Windsor, Canada, using the efficient Cosworth casting process. The block then goes to Japan where Yamaha contributes a pair of its own cylinder heads plus machine work and final assembly. It is then shipped to Atlanta, Georgia where final assembly of the SHO takes place.

Only one transmission is available and it is the very smooth shifting AX4N four-speed automatic with Overdrive, which is also used in the new Lincoln Continental. The new transmission brings all this power to the front wheels silently, the only sound you hear is the high-pitched whine of the V8.
