Thinking of painting my rims BLACK...what do you guys think?

I know a guy who could paint all my wheels for dirt cheap, which got me thinking. I've been looking at pics of Hiroshi's black max with the black rims, and it makes me drool. My wheels have two lined groves going down the spokes and a polished lip. I'm thinking of painting the spokes (minus the groves/lip) black. What do you guys think? Any good photoshoppers out there?

If anyone is bored and wants to help me out with their photoshopping skills, here are some spare pics:

Well, I know he would paint my entire car any color I want (several coats/clear coat/sanding/wet sanding, ect.) for around $400. All I have to do is provide the paint and help out.

So i'm guessin' around $100 for an entire paint job. I just don't know if it will be possible to paint just the parts of the spoke and not the rest of the rim/creases. Maybe find some miracle masking tape while the spokes get sand blasted and painted.

Or maybe I should paint the ENTIRE rim black?

I think it looks pretty good like that, the black gives it a bit of a contrast, is that how you wanted it to look?

it just looks good like that in the pic, but in real life it wont, i think you should paint the whole rim, that picture doesnt make it too clear if it has a lip or not, but if it does have a lip, then dont paint it

keep them the way they are...i dont really go for the black rims look mainly becuase from just a short distance, it looks like you got your winter steelies on without the caps. the car looks sharp with nice silver colored rims, esp. since you got 18s. this way, you wont be mistaken for having steelies.

i think the lip is too big and the wheel is too open to have only the spokes painted black. maybe paint the entire spoke and the innter part of the lip (the part that is set back a little, closer to the brakes)

Black?! You you freakin' nutso? First of all, get them powdercoated, not painted. 2ndly, get it a shade of gray or gunmetal.

You want black rims, just run the stock steelies w/o the hubcaps!

Ya, except going all the way to the centercap. You painted over the creases, but that's ok

Jeffy: Are you saying regular paint wouldn't hold up? I don't know if powdercoating could be an option.

I guess I am running out of things to do to my car And I know it might look like steelies from close, but look at Hiroshi's car. Are you guys saying you don't like the way that looks?

Regular paint "might" hold up IF you have a bodyshop do it. If you diy it, you will ruin your rims. Color choice is subjective so I won't comment. But don't ruin your new rims by doing a cheapie diy paint job on them. Powercoating is MUCH stronger than just a bodyshop deal.
