Southwest Brake kits!!

Hey guys, I'm thinking about buying the cross drilled/slotted rotors and metal brake pads for my front wheels, for my 1996 Maxima GLE. Has anyone purchased the rotors/pads from Southwest Autoworks? Is that a fair price and are the products good? Also, how much diff can I expect from this purchase? Finally, how much should I expect labor to cost me? Thanks for all the advice guys!!

Rotors arent that hard to intall yourself so thats 0 dollars. As for affordable yes but your never gonna find any place cheaper than ebay for rotors and pads unless if you want a whole big brake upgrade.

Nope, I actually remember a member posting here a few months ago saying that his big drilled rotors cracked from everyday driving, or a mix of that and a few hard stops...

It was MAXRPM who had the Stillen/AP Racing 1pc kit. I think he said that his rotor cracked after a few track sessions. He now has the Stillen 2pc kit, so you might want to check with him. I will also not recommend getting cross drilled if you're going to the track.

Your other option is a 1pc or 2pc kit from Precision Brakes. I got the slotted 1pc 13x1.25 (actually it's 12.75) rotor w/. Wilwood Superlite calipers and Hawk HP+ pads. I got the rotors cryo treated for another 80 bucks as I go to the track often. The brakes are being installed tomorrow, so I can let you know more afterwards. Keep in mind that you will need bigger wheels. This precision brakes kit does NOT fit the stock 17inch rims. Also the kit from Precison brakes is a lot cheaper than the Stillen one. There was a group deal on these kits, so you might want to check the gd forum for ppl who bought these and their opinion. I know Galo bought the 2pc 1.25 thick rotor and those WILL have clearence problems. So you choice w/. Precision brakes is either a 1.25 1pc rotor or 0.81 thick 2pc rotor.

I just added the details in case you had any follow up questions on the Precision Brakes kit. Their website is www.precisionbrakes.com

Hope this helps.

IMO don't waste your money on crossdrilled or slotted rotors w/brake pads. Just invest and get yourself a Big Brake Kit. Preferably a 4piston kit. The difference with this setup is night and day to what you have now. You won't regret it. For the Willwood kit you can get them from PrecisionBrakes.com for about $999 or so.. That's probably the cheapest 4 piston kit out there..
