If your looking to power a sub you should look into a mono block amp, they are designed just to power subwoofers. As far as using your Bose system, I would recomemend a JBL Power valve amp. Its a mono block and the high level input has the same sound quality as using the line level rca plugs. With the Bose system you'd have to buy a PAC converter and there is a signal loss and clarity loss. The JBL will sound great and its built for subs. As far as woofers go the Pioneer is a nice woofer, how much do you want to spend and what are you attempting to acheive, ie SQ SPL etc.

Set the gain low on the amp and use a sealed enclosure to complement but not overpower the Bose. Otherwise all you'll hear is the low end. As far as quality, make due with your good deal, but JL Audio subs offer a balance between power controlled output.
