calling all aftermarket clutch owners, particularly exedy/act..

my car was swapped about a week ago and i have a fidanza flywheel and exedy stage 1. Now i know this is an aftermarket clutch and realize it should be a little stiffer than stock but man is this thing hard.. i mean its not that hard, i can still drive it ok in traffic without my left leg killing me later. It engages about 1/4-1/2 way up from the floor.

My main concern however is the way its adjusted.. See the pics, its where the threaded rod goes into the bracket:

See how the end of that rod is flush with the bracket surface? Ive looked at that rod on jason's and izzy's VE 5sp's and the rods on both those cars pop out a little further than that

My car was swapped at maximum tuning and jeff said that the rod is not supposed to be adjusted, and he didnt change any adjustment from the way it came on my parts car.....and if changed it will change the engagement point only and not the stiffness of the pedal. I dont really care that its hard, ive gotten used to it by now so its not that bad, but im just worried about that adjustment so i dont burn this clutch up fast.

So if you all can, take a look at your clutch pedal mount where the threaded rod screws into the bracket there, is it flush or does it stick out etc?

Is there any free play? If not, that might have been tinkered with before.

If the clutch starts to engage at 1/4 to 1/2 away from the floor, you're okay. If you want it to engage closer to the floor, turn the clip thingy clockwise so that a few more threads show at the end. But it's not easy to do. Or at least I didn't think so.

Then it looks like it's been adjusted before. If there's NO free play, then the clutch is always slightly "engaged". Mark the rod with a felt pen. Undo the jam nut and twist the rod once around then check. Don't go overboard as small adjustments in the rod make fairly big differences in the pedal. You should be able to jiggle the clutch pedal a bit before it actually starts to push the rod down.
