I just bought a new set of rims, thanks Biomax, they are 15x7. These will be used for autoXing only. What tire does everybody recommend. I am looking at 225/50. I am thinking about Yokohama AVS Intermediate. Any other suggestions, around or below $80

Also what would the difference in handling be between a 50 and 60 series sidewall?

I have used the search function. Most things that come up are Kuhmo, and nitto. Neither make tires in the size I am looking for. IO also looked to see what poeple had said about teh Yok's, most were just reccomending them for daily driving. I just wanted to know if anybody had any other sugestions before I bought them.

well do you want tires JUST for autoxing? Kumho V700 has MANY sizes... maybe you can go one way or ther other close to what you want. Also you could look into Hoosiers...

THose would be my first choices, but I plan on racing STS class, wich doesn't allow competition tires.

in that case, don't run such tall side wall tires, you won't gain anything... if you are going to go 15X7... you want to run racing tires... other wise, the side walls will be too tall for street tires.

Double check the rules - the Kumho and Hoosiers are both DOT approved - most sanctioning bodies consider that a street legal tire. You will be severely handicapped with regular street tires against those.
