Those with APC Harness, please help. . .
When I turned my headlights on today, one turned on fine the other was very dim. . . When checking the connector on the back of that bulb, I noticed that the ground wire was very warm, same on the other side, and this was only after 5-10 minutes with them on. Could you please check to see if this is normal? I know that the wires aren't soldered into the harness, supposedly, but they reason the light isn't working correctly is because this wire is loose in the back of the connector and I am just trying to figure out if the heat from the black wire is normal or something that is wrong with mine in general.
Exact same thing happened to me not too long ago. It eventually got to the point where everytime I turned on the lights, one was dim. So I took out the harness and did some of my own repair work. I went to NAPA and bought a replacement headlight socket. The wires on the replacement socket weren't the same gauge wire as the harness. I asked a mechanic if it would make a huge difference if I used a different gauge wire to replace the socket on the harness and he assured me it wouldn't. So I cut the socket from the harness and replaced it with the replacement socket. I haven't put the harness back in my Max yet, but I'll let you know when I do and the results.
I wonder if it is a defect and we can write APC about it. . . I have had my harness for just over a month and for how much they cost, I think I have a reason to complain. . . BTW what type of battery do you have? I have an Optima Yellow Top and was wondering if this might be part of the cause, maybe too much current from something directly linked or something.
I got mine from Carparts.com, I used the 33% off coupon and I still think it was just over $40. . . I know you can get it for cheaper at other places, but this problem is bothering me.
