HID colors
i hear that the lower the kelvin, the brighter the bulbs. is this always true? i also hear that HID bulbs get bluer and bluer (sp?). how long does it take for it actually to show a difference? will it last longer than 8k bulbs that are already more dim and blue/purple than 5300?

...just go over to HIDforum.com and find out more detailed info.
Just FYI, the color changes as the bulbs burn it (atleast 80hrs) I got mine on top & bottom a few months ago and they still havnt burned in 100% yet. As far as 8K goes, thats just cheap HID brand, IMO there is not REAL hid that goes above 6K regardless of whats claimed. My 6000k's have more color then some Ive seen with cheap 6000-8000K's The best brands are Phillips/Osram and Catz.
Btw- I doubt any of this will help you much considering HID retrofit kits are now banned in this country. Unless you got the dough to fork over at the dealer to get the 2K2 headlights, then you can still change the bulbs, but your talking $1425 +tax
then another $300 for some "decent" bulbs.

i have 6k purple which happen to be more colorful than some 8k's out there but 8k's for some reason seem to look brighter and go a farther distance on the road. I think what a lot of people complain about is that its dimmer on the road when its more colorful, unless u get a whiter kit. I seen jerseymaxima's 8k 97gle kit in person. When turned on, it looks real white with a tint of blue and on the ground it presents much more white than my purple hanabi 6k. to end all worries, when going at higher kelvin, look for white kits or light color and heavy white kits. I think you'll be most happy with those.

Glad you like your kit, but I still like my Catz kit better (ive seen both)
maybe its somewhat of a biased opinion but if you put them side by side, you'd see the difference.

Try to argue this over at www.hidforum.com you'll see what I mean. Bmw & Audi use projectors that are tinted, thats why you see that purplish glare to it but the bulbs are still the color of sunlight. They have the purple look and put out more light on the road, dont mistake 'glare' for usable light.

they get the color from the quartz glass.
if you use that kit in your car you will get a yellow tint to it.
which most ppl don't want.
every company has diff color ratings, i have seen what they call the 12k kit and it's very dim.

What K is the stock 2k2 bulbs. so if I got 8000k bulbs they won't be as bright as my stock ones.

I also got 6000K in my fogs, but they are only 21w so straight ahead they dont put out as much light as the headlights do at 35watts, but the beam pattern on the ground from the fogs looks VERY nice. All you see is just row after row just purple. Gets the reaction from most that see it in person
