Maxima.org needs your help
We are trying to make Maxima.org a better place.
We will try to provide something in return for your time and help. So, we need your help with the following:
1. We are looking for good graphic designers to help design a new logo and t-shirt/merchandise designs. If you haven't looked at our store, it's kinda plain. We want to add a little pizazz and spice to our merchandise so that more people would be interested in them.
2. Dedicated .orger's who are willing to compile a FAQ. This requires countless hours of your beloved time sifting through all of the information. Of course, you will get recognition for doing this.
If anyone is willing to help Maxima.org out, please email me at jane@maxima.org .
Thank you!

A very very good one.
One that will eliminate all of the whining that is done about the FAQ and search.
Basically, like how the 4th gen is set up, but better and we need it to be like this: https://maxima.org/shoptalk/index.shtml , so that everything is organized and easy to find.

Jane either PM or email me with what you want or an idea of what you want and we can go from there.
And I'll even try to add something to it.

I like the FAQ the way they are now, Just organise them a little more like you said, and make sure NooB's read them, make it a requirement or something. But what I would like to see change is the Avatar Option, How come Honda Forums can have theres on, It would add more pisezaz wont it?

Why not make the FAQs a distributed effort like how I did the mods on: http://maxmods.dyndns.org/ I have over 120 pages of information contributed by many people from all over the web.
On a wiki, pages are editable and created by anyone, but with IP numbers of the authors listed right in the RecentChanges and page information to prevent malicious behavior. And just in case of some malicious behavior, every page can be easily rolled back to it's previous versions, and generally gets done as soon as someone sees the bad change in the RecentChanges
It would take one person forever to write this in static html, and they would get lazy and it would become unmaintained eventually. Also, wikis are very easy to edit, just edit any page on mine to see the markup syntax. Even a 10 year old could figure out how to add more content. Why not put every single person's knowledge on the .org together in a collaborative wiki? Just imagine, if every person on the .org wrote one question or answer, you'd have a very big FAQ in a very small amount of time.
Whole multilingual encyclopedias with almost 170,000 articles have been written this way: http://www.wikipedia.org/
Just theme up a wiki and you're good to go. I'd personally recommend the 1.3 series of phpwiki http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/ for it's features. I'm currently running the 1.2 series out of a simple dbm database on a P90 32MB 256k uplink with no problems or load issues (then again I have no graphics or complex html to serve up).
