>>I banged her.

Car wouldn't start today so I had to bang on the starter with a wrench. It worked.

I remember reading about this trick on the org. I forget why it works though. Can someone enlighten me?

One other question.. how long can I get away with this trick before I have to shell out cash to buy a new starter.

BTW does it matter if I buy oem or aftermarket?

hahaha...me and wayne(cashj) had to do that one night when we got stranded in Gaithersburg. it worked for that weekend, but thats as long as he let it go before he got a new starter. I wouldn't let it go too long

did you ever get that other starting problem you used to have fixed?

same story here - bought the new starter and drove around with it in the trunk for two weeks - one day at work the bang with the hammer didn't work - so i pulled the car into the locker room and 1 hour later had the new starter in.

the trick works because brushes in the starter get stuck.~ rough theory

it works but when you know the starter is going, you really should replace it... you dont want to be pushing your luck every time youre out somewhere starting your car... since its going bad you should just replace it, its not something you want to milk.. youll end up paying a good amount for a tow truck lol

Yeah I just bought one yesterday. I tried installing it last night in the dark. Haha bad idea. I did notice that one of the smaller wires connecting to the starter had a spliced insulation, so the wire was exposed.

After fiddling with that the car seems to start regularly now. May have been an electrical problem.

But today my car stalled out and I pulled a MAF code. Im thinking i either installed the intake plumbing wrong, or i damaged the MAF somehow yesterday.

AHHHHHH!!!!!!
