Windshield chips (any way to remove?)

Is there a polish or a process where the thousands of tiny chips can be removed from a windshield, or is my only recourse to replace the windshield? THe glare is something fierce, and in comparison to the windshield on our 2K3 Celica it is very hard to see out of the Maxima's windshield.

Windshield Chips

There are several companys that specialize in repair of W/S chips. Best to do a search on the net for your area.

I once called about it because NOBODY replaces the windshield with factory glass (nissan emblem in corner or whatever). I was like if it's a $200 deductible, I'd rather pay $1000 for the windshield and be responsible for $200, as opposed to getting a $350 windshield for $200. The Nissan dealer told me nobody will use factory glass, you can call around all you want, only the price will vary. So then I looked into the repair process and was quoted about $70. Didn't do it because I passed inspection anyway. But the poster says 1000's of chips, not sure what he/she means. $70 is for one chip or small bullseye and they guarantee that you will pass inspection.

I mean all of those barely visible nicks in the glass where a small rock or peice of debris made only the slightest indentation in the glass. I I (knock on wood) do not have any "real" chips, just tons of tiny tiny ones.

I'm in the same boat as you....and all the tiny chips on the winshield are from highway driving or from when I was behind those big dump trucks with sucky mud flaps.

I got 100s of tiny chips in my window and I had glare, but I just cleaned the windows with Windex from the outside and the inside. There is only a little bit of glare now b/c of the tiny chips (before I could barely see anything) but it's a lot better than before

Clean the windshield from the inside to see if it'll help. Try claying the outside.
