first accident

it seems like everyone on the org is getting into accidents lately. just had my first.

@$$hole SUV in front of me decides to stop and take a left turn. i floor the brakes, realize i'm not gonna make it, and swerve into the right lane. now comes the part where the crappy tires loose all traction, and i spin out, overcorrect, and end up on the other side of the damn highway, and smash the curb. axles are f***ed- bent underneath the car, the rims are pretty banged up and cracked slightly, and the tires are dead. probably looking at new axles, tires, and new rims. calling insurance tomorrow morning...anyone have an idea of what the damage to the bank will be?

interesting note: my back hurts like hell, as it was quite a jolt, but my cd never skipped...

Wow bro- first off- call insurance and get that back checked out. I havent been into an accident- but reading about many people's misfortune on this website makes me scared. Be careful- glad you're ok- at least you didnt get smashed by oncoming traffic.

that would be hard, depends on who and where you take it for esitmate for the car. They will have to actually look at the damage and what needs to be replace and find any other additional damage that could be hidden. My guess would be around at least.......at least 2500-3000 worth of damages

You were following him too closely. If he had time enough to stop and make the turn you shoul've too. Part of it, all of it is your fault. But axles are only about $60 at autozone or $130 at raxles.com...

i was maybe two car lengths behind him. we weren't going very fast, maybe 45 mph. the driver of the suv had to have absolutely floored his/her brakes, because i was a constant distance away, and all of a sudden getting real close real fast. i wouldn't have spun out if i turned the wheel smoothly, but i panicked at not being able to brake in time, and kinda jerked it. thanks for the links though.

i agree with JustTry, get the back checked out...car accidents are just too stressful on the human body, not naturally made for it. im not blaiming you, but be more careful next time

Sorry to hear about your accident. The first one is always the toughest.

Check out the aftermath of mine that I did today. The sad part is I have no one else to blame but myself.

2k1 rims w/ rims can be found for maximum 700-1000. axles can be easily found for less than 200 in junkyards or autozone. Being it did so much damage you MIGHT have to replace some inner tie rods and other miscellaneous stuff, but all that shouldnt total to more than 400-500. Basically if your luck sucks and all is dead, you'll be spending a maximum of 1700.

On a side note, u should check your back. I was in an accident before and didnt take as much advantage of early pain as i should have. I know u rather see your maxima in one piece again before yourself. I did. But bones and bruises need more care than cars.

What Is Going On !

I am sorry to hear about your accident, I just had one yesterday at 930am,

I saw the truck behind me and knew it was over, There was stop and
go traffic and he wasnt paying attention, He didnt hit me dead on because I swirved. I am a wreck right now because I have no idea
what the outcome may be.

We just have to wait for the adjusters come out and take a look.
Ive only had my car for about a year.

I wish you luck and hope WE arent in that bad of shape, even if
they can fix it. My biggest fear is that it will NEVER be the same.
DAYUM !

man, bad luck for the both of us. sorry to hear about your max.

meccanoble, thanks for the figures. i called the shop and insurance today, and they're gonna send someone out to assess the damage etc. looks like i'll just be paying the 500 dollar deductible. i now have no ill will towards paying insurance.
also, after a night's sleep on my back only, i feel a lot better. i'll have my Sifu (Kung Fu teacher) check it out, and also a physical therapist who goes to the school. thanks for your concern
