Bought a 97' SE

I'm new to the Maxima world but not new to nissan. I crashed my 240sx 3 weeks ago and I needed dome thing reliable, 4 door, front wheel drive, and quick. I still have 1 good 240sx left that I will be tranfering my parts too. The maxima I just bought is a dark green 97' SE with tan leather interior. Its a five speed manual because I just can't drive automatic. I love the car so far. I need a stock cd changer non bose stereo. If anyone has one let me know. Nick

Just a few Pics

Good choice, I would recommend Tokico Illuminas and H&R Springs, it would make it look, ride, and handle very nice.

I thought Maximas didn't have a pocket behind the driver's seat? I always thought that was an I30 thing.

Welcome to the forums. Just watch out, if you stay here too long your car will end up looking just like mine Modding is addictive. But if you are looking for aftermarket parts, a good place to start is http://maxmods.dyndns.org/

Thanks for the support. I don't know how far I will go modding this car. Maybe rims, suspension, and exhaust. The real beater/play car will be my second 240sx. I will probably start first with suspension even though its great to start out with. Concidering I live a few miles from tire rack and get wholesale pricing from the local performance shop on tire rack merchandise.

On a different note my check engine light came on yesterday on the way to work. I think it may be the alternator. I took it to advanced auto and they said it wasn't charging the battery. So I have to go pull codes now. Nick

Do not pay to have your alternator replaced yet! There was a recall on certain 97-98 maximas with respect to their alternator. Someone on here may know exactly what the production span was so that you can check if you are affected.

There is a recall on alternators. I took my '97 into Nissan and they got me a new one and installed for free. So just take it in and ask them, you'll be all set.

Well it turns out the alternator was fine just a loose connection on the battery. I took it to advanced auto to run the dignosis and they said charging system. I finally got around last night to pull the code. It came out 0104 which is the vehicle speed sensor. I reset the ecu it was fine for a day then the check engine light came on again. I guess this weekend I will look into it further and check voltage, if I can find it. Thanks. Nick

I would say that the car has aftermarket leather. Look at the way the door panels are stitched. Stock panels are stitched differently.
