Can't Access Search: Battery Help

Both positive and negative are attached nice and firm, but for the past 2 weeks I can count 4 separate occassion where I went to start it up and got a "click"....no starter rollover, no nothing. The interior lights go out as if the battery were dead.

I go to the enginebay, wiggle the connectors a bit (which are so snug, all this accomplishes is moving the battery itself around) get back in the car and bingo, it starts up. Wtf? Can someone help?

The battery is 5 months old, so I really don't know what to think at this point. All that I can say is this problem began as the temperatures began to drop in my state.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Oh yeah....sorry about that. The starter is brand new. I installed it myself about a month ago. I did think that maybe it could be the problem, but when the powers working properly it rolls over like champ, and even if it didn't I doubt simply slapping the battery around would work as a fix, so Im almost positive this isn't the starter.

Thanks for your input!

OOH! I think I got it.....Why don't I just clean the connectors?! You know this just might do the trick because from the looks of things, I might not have a very good connection.

Kashoggio, I think you hit this square on the nose and Im almost embarrased I didn't think of it earlier. The same sort of thing used to happen to my sentra, and the sure shot fix was a little coca cola and a rag.....never happened again I racked my brain for the past two weeks about this occurence yet this very simple solution never even crossed my mind. Thanks for the input. Im sure this will do the trick!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wait...you used Coke to clean your battery termainals? Does that work? (If it does, think about what it does to the lining of your stomach.)

Yep....it works.

You'd be surprise at the true acidic properties in your average everyday can of coke. I've "heard" of studies where in an experiement, a chicken leg was completely submerged in regular cocoa cola for some amount of time i can't remember, and when they removed it, there was nothing but bone left......how true this is I don't know, but I personally don't see it being much of a strecth. I know people who tenderize meat with coke, but if you want to talk acidic....try the acid thats already in your stomache digesting food.

To clean the battery you need baking soda to neutralize the acid from the battery. Just don't let the baking soda get into the battery.
