maxima newbie needs help

Hi All!
I am looking to buy a Maxima soon. I currently drive a Neon R/T and wanted a larger car but something with power and handling. I would like to find an SE and would probably prefer a 5speed but they are hard to find. My dilema is .......The 99 SEs are affordable, but the 2000's have more HP. Would it be better to buy and SE or take the 2000 with more HP and upgrade to tokicko/hr suspension??

Also, if I upgrade the suspension I would like to keep the same ride height but have higher rate springs. Are SE springs available or something higher rate w/o the drop ?

thanks.

Get 95 5 speed!!! GXE or SE...fastest one out there.
As for the springs..H&R will keep it almost stock height..and has good reviews from a lot of people.

There aren't any aftermarket springs that keep the height same as stock. H & R's drop 1.3 inches

How much would stock SE springs cost? Are they easily available?

You should be able to get them from either the stealership, a junkyard, or an org member that has lowered his/her ride

hey pbjames...Your in CT not far from me 45 mins or so ...if you like I would be happy to come and take you for a ride in my 97...its an SE 5spd like you would want and loaded... the only options im missing are heated seats, auto climate, and abs! I have an intake exhaust and an exedy clutch along with a few other mods. Email me or hit me on aim etc, I would be happy to help you out. I also know numerous ppl in ct with 5th gens that would probably take you for a ride for comparison. We are also holding a meet in december if you would like to check out all kinds of different cars. It is december 20th In manchester, right near the buckland hills mall... Come check it out!

i would suggest the fourth gen for the availability of parts. also, it is lighter than the fifth gen, and may feel a bit quicker...everyone has their own opinion of course. if you want a fifth gen, go 02/03 or don't at all. in the end, just test drive em both and pick one you like best. either way you'll enjoy the max over the neon.

Too bad the bank won't finance a 92-94 SE 5 speed for you
