Ugly, Ugly, Ugly

Miss. Daisy will probably have a heart attack after steping on the accelerator. If a Max is a Chicks car then I am the ugliest chick out there and proud of it.

Well, there are some cars, like Jettas and Miatas that I see more chicks driving than guys so I guess they can be considered chick cars. But others, like PT Cruiser...I only see women driving those (prolly driving their kids to soccer practice). As for Maximas, yes we are a group of enthusiasts (mostly male), but I must say that overall I see more women than men driving Maximas. This is in the San Francisco bay area...may be different in other parts of the country.

well this car will proly be driven at times by my babies mama, making it more of a chick's car or the baby dad's car. but i still say the beatle is definately aprciated more by ladies than us men.

For what it's worth . . .

I've got two 2K Maximas and one is DEFINITELY a chick's car. It belongs to my wife! And the last thing she gets when she steps on the accelerator is a heart attack. It's more like this -

msn is WRONG!!!

First off, they have completely wrong 0-60 times for the maxima. If that was the correct 0-60, I would be able to take out an auto max with my taurus and be on par with the sticks Top speed is DEFINITLY not 130, its 143 and its posted on everything that nissan gives you. The demographics seem to contradict the other article by msn.

I dunno about it being a chick car, i do concur with the Maxima being a 30 year old and older car. I'm the second youngest person i ever SEEN driving a 5g Maxima...and probably the 6th youngest person driving any maxima. I just feel older driving this car.

The Maxima certainly appears to be an older car. I am 30 and single, my friends and family nearly flipped when I got my Max. Most of them said "Why didn't you get a (Miata, 'Lude, 'Stang...)" But they don't understand the power of VQ.

I too don't think that I have seen many younger drivers, aside from the obvious 'driving my parent's ride' sort of thing.

Actually on of my neighbours has a G4 SE and she (one of the few women owners I have seen, I should put that in the other thread) lends it out to her kid, some teen. I cringe every time he leave with it... I know how I drove when I was 16 and I am glad that I didn't have that kind of a car...

are ve naught men?

Saying a Maxima is a girlie car is just like saying yo mudda wears you know who. So who cares? If the SE is a girl's car then so be it. Those who have a problem wit it trade em in for a man's car. Just remember to check the web first next time you buy.

b/4 I start calling bulls on the author I will express my observation first.

1) Maxima is FLAVORED by women who work in offices. (Not those Prelude-driving teenage boopers)
2) I have seen some 5th GEN SEs in my area who are driven by Miss Daisy!
3) My wife loves our Maxima for its smooth revving engine and stability except for that can't-folddown rearseat.

So, chick or not, it's in the eyes of the beholder.

I didn't read the article, but I want you guys to look hard next time you see a nice car. Chances are it will be driven by a women. Women make up the majority when it comes to F-Bodies, Mustangs, Miata, BMWs, Benz, Vette, Maxima, Celica, Integra, Grand Prix, SUVs (if you think that kind of crap is cool),etc. Pretty much anything that conveys the image of power, speed, and status, women like. Sorry, but it's true. Most men would rather be seen in something conservative. Sad, but true.

BTW, I don't think a stock Maxima isn't exactly a great looking car. With springs and a nice set of wheels, the Maxima becomes a completely different car. I can't count how many times I'll be driving and my wife will say "damn, that guy is really checking out your car". I'm not talking Honda racers, I'm talking about late 30s/early 40s white collar types. I get more looks in my Maxima than I did in my flashy red 94 Z28. It blows my mind because my car is completely subtle in appearance (all black, tinted, no emblems, smoked out rears, lowered, subtle 3" tip, 16" 6 spoke wheels).
