More rear disc brake problems

Thanks to everyone who gave me helpful advice regarding rotating the rear pistons back into the caliper. I solved the problem by gently pulling back the boot and lubicating the boot-piston interface with a few drops of brake fluid. The driver side worked great and is all done. The problem is that while the passenger side rotates clockwise freely, it won't retract all the way to allow the caliper to fit over the new pads. It's only off by 2-3mm, but it is definitely not retracted enough. I turn it and it turns easily, but does not retract further. I rotated it counterclockwise, and it comes back out, but will only retract so far, just not far enough.
What should I do?
Grind the new pads to make room to fit?
Get a new(or rebuilt)caliper?
Fortunately, I'm borrowing a friend's '92 Infiniti Q45, which feels like Maxima's big brother, but looks like a nightmare under the hood. Interestingly enough, for the parking brake it uses small drum brakes that fit inside the rear rotors(the inside of the rotor serving as the drum) which eliminates the problems I'm having, but gives you a set of drum brakes to deal with. I doubt this gets much wear, and I doubt many Infiniti Q45 owners do their own brake work.
Thanks,
Bary
