Refinishing wheels?
hey, i have 300ZX chrome rims on my maxima. i bought my maxima like that and i think the rims look alrite on the car but i really don't like the chrome. does anyone know if its possible to refinish just to like a normal silver finish? if so how much would it cost? and does anyone know a place like this in southern cali. thanks

well a better idea is to sell the chrome ones and get rims w/ regular finish. when you chrome rims they strip the clear coat and rough the metal under it for something the coating can grab on to. so to undo that takes a lot of work.

I second that motion...
I'm sure that some twinturbo.net folx would swap them + a bit o' cash. Check out the TT site or ebay for the going rate on chromed 300zx rims...
Another idea is to polish the rims. IMHO, a better look than chrome, and isn't prone to chip.
3rd option is to paint the set any color you like. A dark car might look great with white rims, and any car looks good with a gunmetal gray.
In any case, if the chrome is in good condition, might as well make a few $$ on swapping them for silver or peeled chrome ones before deciding.

300ZX sweet deal
Did you get the rims swapped yet?(get rid of the chrome) Have any pics so I can check it out. I'm debating to do my rims gun metal color or white too. Did you take it to the place kevin said, if so how much did they charge you for all 4 rims to be done. Since my car is white and I agree with you that gun metal color is an excellent choice. Hey Kevin, Did you get your Stillen front lip painted? LEts meet up sometime and go hang out.

sorry nizmolee i haven't done it yet. i don't think i will. i'll probably just sell these rims for whatever i can sell them for and get new ones. the place that kevin talked about didn't give me a price quote unless they saw the rim first.
but i called up http://www.fixarim.com they asked $30 to strip off the chrome and another $80-$100 to refinish it PER rim.
